Can't control sync direction

I lost the contents of an important note on my Note 10+ phone. I was able to recover on the desktop using History. I am using the Legacy version on the desktop and manually synced from there, but it did not sync to the phone. The next time I looked, the sync had come from the phone and I lost the note contents again. How can I get the sync to put the note back on my phone??
