Formatting (how to reduce spacing between lines of text)

Hello,

I am seeking advice on how to remove formatting within Evernote. I found previous discussions suggesting the option "remove formatting" but it doesn't do what I am looking for. I created a table where I input reading notes into each cell. The problem is that there is spacing between lines of text that I cannot seem to remove.

I attached a screenshot of a table I created in Evernote. How do I remove (or reduce) the spacing between lines of text?

I am also attaching another example (from a different program) showing how I want the text to look.
