'Ghost text' issue in Evernote v 10.1.7

Description: Phantom text remains after backspacing italicized text. 

Clues:

• This 'ghost text' disappears after you mouse over it/click it
• The text 'dances' between two different ghost states when left alone
• Does not appear when backspacing Bold or Underlined text, only Italicized

Things I've Tried: Rebooting Evernote, Deleting the original note and creating a new one.

I'd appreciate some input from someone who actually knows something. Grateful for any help with this issue.
