Strange text or scrolling behavior

Using Mac Catalina. When updating a note, sometimes scrolling down, either using return or down arrow key or scrollbar, acts to scroll the text down but leaves a copy behind it, almost like moving a transparency down over the original work.  This only happens sometimes.  I can't seem to see any action or set of keystrokes (or fat fingering) pattern to trigger this behavior.  It occurs sporadically.  If I close down tab or otherwise exit Evernote (without actually logging out of Evernote) it seems to recover and act normally.
