Notes won't open; cursor flickers

Opening Evernote app. causes my cursor to flicker, even after closing Evernote app. I have to reboot to get a stable cursor.

Once Evernote is open, it won't open a note. The note window opens, and it shows the number of words and characters, but the actual text of a note is not shown. Sometimes the screen is white. Sometimes it is black.
