In previous versions of Evernote, creating a new note when working in fullscreen mode would result in the new note appearing in a modal box on the same screen.
Now, the behavior is inconsistent. At first, a new note will appear briefly in a modal box and then after a moment expand to its own full screen window.
This seems to happen once or twice, but then new notes open in the main window (in snippet view) — I can edit the note in the reading pane, with the note appearing at the top of the list pane.
(Currently I can double click a note in snippet view and open it in a modal box.)
This seems to be a bug, but at any rate, I think it would really serve users to have control over this behavior; options should probably include:
