errors with installation of evernote

I use windows 8 for PC. I have had Evernote for over a year and absolutely love it and use across my phone, laptop, desktop, and tablet. It ceased working on my desktop and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but now it just says contacting the server and never actually does anything. I haven't been able to find an answer to this problem. Any help would be appreciated. I can log in fine through the browser, but the desktop version would be more useful.
