The auto-scan feature in the latest iOS version snaps randomly at things that look vaguely rectangular, frequently capturing the same page twice. And when just moving the camera around to compose the shot, it'll capture my computer screen given half a chance or any other squarish object. It's a nuisance.
Why can't I grab the image manually? When I'm ready to do it, and when the frame has been composed as I want it.
Well the app does actually allow me to do this, but for some reason, I cannot apply the document recognition features when taking a photo. This is a significant deficiency of an otherwise great little app.
Would be much better to have a manual 'take document photo' feature that the user can select when they're ready to add the next page. The page will then be cropped and optimised as a document.
CamScanner does this a treat. If Evernote did this, I wouldn't need CamScanner at all. But at the moment, I'm minded to ditch Evernote's iOS app.
