I determined the issue was related to iOS photo library access rights - issue resolved 

This feature is very buggy. It fails when new images are added to the iOS photo library. Evernote allows you to do a new image search once and not again within the same note ….as the option of looking for new images does not present …. Have to restart Evernote 

A way to toggle text such as in Notion is incredibly useful, especially for memory recall
