Looking forward to the day when the Webclipper finally works again. Evernote keeps working on new features instead of getting the core features right.
Finally working again on MacOs, not sure what the fix was...

the problem with web clipper on Safari has seemed to abate the past 2-3 weeks for me. I uninstalled and re-installed webclipper a couple of times. when you first open web clipper and it goes to the Evernote log-in page, be sure to sign in and click the "stay signed in" box. I also try not to click too many times or options if the web clipper window doesn't open immediately.
it also allows the selection of various websites to clip from Safari.
what is still recurring for me is the freezing of the MAC Evernote desktop app. (another thread). thankfully when it freezes, I can re-open Evernote without signing in again.
Looking forward to the day when the Webclipper finally works again. Evernote keeps working on new features instead of getting the core features right.

Webclipper has not been working for me for at least 6 months. I use Safari as well, just received the latest MacOS update today, still no change. Uninstalled and reinstalled already multiple times. Cannot get it to work.

While I appreciate the frequent bug fix updates, I would like to see an EN v11. Wouldn’t you?
Also, for how I use EN (my second brain and GTD), I don’t place a high value on AI with EN. Sure, there is a cool factor but as far as what I would like in EN in terms of new feature/functions…AI is not tops on my list.
Thoughts?
Until recently I would have agreed with you 100% and still don't think I need AI on EN myself. That said, after seeing what google's notebookLM can do for you with the help of AI (see https://www.theverge.com/2023/7/12/23792382/google-notebooklm-tailwind-ai-notes), I understand why EN is investing in the implementation of AI features to defend market share long-term.
Concerning EN v11, I am happy that EN is ironing out the issues with the WebClipper, Tasks and hopefully releasing a native EN calendar soon and don't care whether they call it EN10.66, 10.74 or anything else. I care about the functionality. Being able to turn off "Home" would be appreciated as well

Sure they exist - you shouldn’t draw too many conclusions from your own lack of learning and flexibility to all users. Home was generally well accepted.
First it was the first major extension of EN after years of legacy stalemate. Second it was developed after a user contest that asked for dashboards users had build on their own.
But as told, system settings allow you to decide where to start. This should be sufficient, if you don’t want to see the Home dashboard.
I am asking for optionality on a feature that I personally have always considered a major setback, the one who extrapolates from the individual to the many is the person who cannot read.

While you can't delete it, you can select in the settings to have Evernote start-up where you were when you quit so don't have to see Home.
Thanks, I know, but that makes the situation not even marginally better. Wonder whether users that get utility from the Home Screen even exist…

Seems like you are being a bit more generous than me!
I definitely like tasks and have found ways around most of the limitations. I'm probably currently more concerned by randomly occuring bugs than the limitation in functionality.
Bugs with tasks I encounter rarely, I use an Android, iPadOS and MacOS.

It seems like development and investing in task has stalled for months now, leading to users to revert back to dedicated task managers, although the integrated tasks functionality of Evernote is superior in my opinion. It feels like Evernote stopped the development while having completed 98% of the work already. Frustrating, still I subscribed for another year... If it was not for tasks I would have left Evernote this year, because ratio of value to price would not have been justified in my opinion.

Overall problem statement: Allow for Configurable User-Defined Default Cross-Platform Task Screen/View
Sub problem 1: The task screen comes with the following tabs, whereas "My tasks" is the default tab - I want to make "Notes" my default tab and never work with the remaining tabs:
- My tasks
- Assigned
- Notes
- Due dates
Solution 1: Allow user to set default tab, which opens when task screen is opened or allow user to hide those task tabs which are not desired.
Sub problem 2: Each of the aforementioned tabs can be sorted, but the sorting (a) does not synchronize across devices and (b) randomly bleeds into note sorting.
Solution 2: Develop (a) cross-platform synching of task sorting and (b) decouple task sorting from note sorting.

Nope, just want to know if they plan to implement features that I would find personally valuable.
I've worked with companies that make their product roadmap available to customers. Helps keep the customers invested and interested in the company/product.
Absolutely agree. Robust reliable note taking, a reliable WebClipper, Tasks and a native calendar would keep me here. Just renewed my subscription. Overall it is still a great product, just the most recent investments in AI solutions have been a waste in my opinion. Thus, it would be appreciated to understand where EN is heading.

Please allow users to deactivate "Home" in settings. "Home" just adds a layer of friction to everything I do in Evernote and does not add any value to my workflows. Why not allow users to deactivate "Home" in the settings. Evernote worked just fine before "Home" and unlike "Tasks" I don't consider it an essential or value adding feature. What is the use case beyond the scratch pad, which I use twice per year?

Works for me, on 3 Macs.
Uninstall, restart, reinstall.
If you run adblocking / security software disable it to check if it blocks clipping.
Still does not work even after uninstall and reinstall. A new tab opens every time I click the Webclipper icon with the content shown at the beginning of the thread.

Webclipper on Safari is no longer working, I am using the latest MacOS. Used to allow the EN access for a day whenever I wanted to clip something and then had to reload the website that I wanted to clip. No longer works... After selecting "allow access for a day" and reload a new tab in Safari opens where it says the following, the happy clipping part just does not work...
Web Clipper log in successful. You’re now logged in and may close this window.
Happy clipping! -
The Web Clipper to me is one of the most essential Evernote features, unfortunately it no longer captures all the imagery and visuals on some websites when using Safari (MacOS 14.1). I tried for example all available clipping formats for the following article, none worked the graphs from the FT could not be captured with the Web Clipper.

If EN would simply copy TickTick, I think at least 80% of the people would be happy about the task functionality
-
please no separate app for tasks

Same issue here with Android 11 Motorola One phone.
-
In Android you can add now an Evernote widget called 'Simple Tasks', but it is buggy and does not work most of the time. Compared to TickTick's Android integration for adding tasks from the pull down menu EN is still far behind.
-
Don't get why EN is not tapping into this profit pool.
-
Like the idea. The functionality of Tasks has stalled for a few months.
-
See it exactly the other way around:
1. EN forcing me to sign up to another service, e.g. Outlook Calendar, Google Calendar to be able to use a calendar within EN - whereas a calendar is an essential tool in any productivity system - is a no-go, because I don't want to sign up to another service. I want to retire my reliance on TickTick for Tasks and Calendar.
2. The interfaces to 3rd party calendar applications need to be maintained and make EN dependent. That said, I would rather see EN investing in their native ecosystem then an interface.
-
Everytime I add a task within EN Tasks in the 'Tasks View' and having the tasks sorted by 'Notes' (see screenshot), Tasks freezes and I must navigate to another section of EN like 'Notes', then switch to the 'Tasks View' again, sort by 'Notes' before I can continue editing Tasks.
I use MacOs 14 (Sonoma) and the tasks issue described here also appears on the latest iPadOS.

Maybe you would also appreciate a native standalone calendar

Thanks for the advise, played with the Clipper and now it works again. Happy!
