What finally worked was to uninstall old Evernote with AppCleaner and then reinstall Evernote. But seems kind of bush league on Evernotes part to have to do this and it was somewhat random that I came across this solution. Looked for a long time. I love Evernote when it is working but over the years there have been a number of glitches that make me start looking at other solutions.

Have 10.05 version. have uninstalled and restarted machine. nothing working. very frustrating 

Unbelievable that you would take this function away and compare it to Google Docs and expect people to set up a Evernote account. For one thing most people know google. Many of the people I send notes to do not know Evernote and will not create an account and therefore don't see the note. Words cannot express How disappointed I am with this. And you saying you will have it fixed in several months is BS. Evernote is deteriorating in functionality and convenience.
