It seems that the new Evernote version on iPad finally solved this. Quickly tested but I’ll be happy  if someone else confirms.

Lost 3 or 4 times 15 min on the last 2 days just because sketches are gone anytime the iPad (13.3) screen goes off...

Meeting notes, sketches, you speak for 2 min, come back and... gone.

It's been ages since all devices are on batteries and OS's are protecting against drains. I can't imagine all developers saying "OS are optimising battery life thus, yeah you loose your work"
