  1. When I do a web clip on my Windows 10 PC I am then given the choice to open it in the cloud or on my PC. Can someone help me decide what the best thing to do is? Since the two are synced I'm not sure what the real difference is. I would like to keep a copy of all my Evernote data on my PC. Is that an issue here?

Come to think of it, where is the data stored on a PC?

    Thanks!

  2. I would like to take handwritten notes on my iPad using Evernote. As I recall I used to be able to do this but just recently tried and it is not possible.

With "Scribble" turned on in iPad settings, when I pencil write it is immediately turned into ascii type text. I don't want that (unless the feature improves a lot). With Scribble turned off on the iPad I am unable to draw letters at all. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

To restate the problem, when I open EN and then either leave it open or close it with the "X", and let the screen go to sleep (15 minutes) logging back in I find that the task bar icon is "broken", that is, I can neither close EN nor open the EN window. Clicking on it does nothing! I have recently found, however, that clicking on the desktop EN icon works in both closing and opening EN.

Because of this strange behavior (the desktop icon works properly but the taskbar icon does not) I'm suspecting an icon cache problem. The solutions I've found for rebuilding the icon cache seem somewhat daunting and to me risky so I will probably just wait and live with it.

  4. I tried the advice of gazumped to the letter but unfortunately that did not work.

Let me add that I am using the latest updated version of both EN and Windows 10. My power and sleep settings are Turn the screen off after 15 minutes and Never go to sleep.  I also have set to require a sign-in whenever the PC wakes up from sleep.

I'm still not satisfied with this behavior.

If anyone recognizes this problem or has a suggestion, I would like to hear it.

    Thanks!

  5. Thanks for giving me a few minutes to test it out again. About half hour ago I closed EN with the "X". Then I allowed my desktop to go dormant and log me out. When I logged back in again, The EN icon on the taskbar was highlighted, but the program wasn't open and clicking on the icon would do nothing. I couldn't get the program to open again until I used task manager to close all instances of EN.

I hope that makes sense. Any thoughts on this behavior?

  6. There are two ways to "close" EN on my PC. One is to click on the "X" in the upper right part of the window. This closes EN but it remains running in the background. The other way is to use file>menu and Quit. This really closes EN. The problem is that you really don't know if EN is still running in the background and it is really easy to keep it running when Windows times out and my PC is locked after so many minutes. When this happens EN becomes unusable and I have to close EN with task manager.

How have you other desktop PC users tackled this issue?

    Thanks!

  7. For research, I use PDFs a lot. When I import a PDF to an open note on my PC (either desktop version or web version), the whole PDF document opens up and it is easy to view it, although annotations I don't believe are possible. All I've been able to do is copy text from the PDF.

When I now open that page in EN on the iPad, all I see is the link image below. Clicking on it opens the PDF on the iPad in a separate file. So really you can't (easily) annotate the PDF this way in EN.

Has anyone found a way to better handle PDFs on the iPad? Within the EN environment or using some other app?

    Thanks!

  8. I may be late to the party, but I find I can no longer easily make tables and lists like I used to. I'm using the latest EN (10.28.3). It looks like I might be able to fiddle with templates, but this is not what I'm looking for. Can someone please enlighten me?

    Thanks!

I apologise, I find I do have the page referred to after all.  Likewise clicking on the open in desktop button doesn't appear to work at first.  Instead I right click the button and choose open link in new tab.  THis opens the desktop app.  The first time I had to allow the linking to go ahead.

Thanks agsteele. It looks like there is definitely some unplanned behavior of this function. I'll see if I can notify EN.
