Evernote maintains 3 types of note links: Classic, Private, Public

When I copy note link from Evernote App on Mac it's old link without "Open in Evernote" button (evernote.com/shard/000/nl/...)
and when I copy from Web App its new link with new design and with that button... (evernote.com/shard/000/sh/...)

Any idea how can I get new link from Mac App?

//edit: Ah, ok "/sh/" is shared link. But then why I can't use "open in evernote" in "/nl/"

  2. I'm thinking about idea to link every file into Evernote.

Let's say I have project that include
    - spreadsheets, documents, videos (Google Drive)
    - PDF's, drafts, notes (Evernote)
    - source files (Dropbox)

Can't really see a bigger picture of the project, right?

I can link each file and even folder using Google Drive integration to Evernote. With Dropbox it's not possible and linking to folder location on my computer isn't great solution at all. If I just change folder name link will be broken.

Also isn't it counter-productive? Maybe it's too much work to maintain it? Anyone have experience with it?

  3. Anyone separate business and personal notes using 2 accounts with new version of Evernote?

They say... "No longer intermingle your business and personal content in your Evernote experience but still multi-task when you need to. "

    I have few questions:

    1) Can I search and display results from both accounts? For example when I addded something business related to the personal ideas notebook.

    2) Can I easily move notes from personal to business account?

And is it good approach to separate my notes (currently 8k+)? It's very frustrating to have those multiple tags everywhere like: ideas-business, ideas-personal, goals-business, goals-personal, expenses-business, expenses-personal etc.

Edit: I've found answers here https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000716428-How-to-switch-between-personal-and-business-notes

  5. I recently replaced big video attachments to the notes to Google Drive links. My Evernote database folder still contains these files.

What should I do? Uninstall Evernote using CleanMyMac and install it again? Everything will be synced as it is now or I need to make some backups just in case? I don't want any problems with displaying my notes/different formatting or coruppted attachments.

Also scrolling in EN is a bit laggy, I hope reinstalling will help with that.

I'd like to see your actual templates. Please post a link sometime

That's my first template, I will try to improve it in the next few days and of course I can share EN link if you'd like to:) Currently I use Keyboard Maestro macro to paste that template.
It happens when I type "--j". Did you see the video?

I start of my journal with the weather (feed from ifttt)
    and the tide schedule

Good idea. IFTTT creates new note and then you copy it to journal manually or it's also scripted?

Since the finances were important; I'd also transfer that figure to the title

Was thinking about it. But in Finances Sub-Journal. Same as in accomplishments.

(that "accomplishment" is for example purposes of course)

  7. Hey, I'm working on my Journal Template in Evernote and I wanted to hear some feedback what else can I implement.

    Actual version contains:

    - description of the day in few words
    - rating of the day (good/bad) in note title
    - checklist of sub-journals which contains:

    1.  dream journal
      1. screenshot of Sleep Cycle app for iPhone
      2. what was I dreaming
      3. how I felt after wake up
    2. productivity journal
      1. screenshot of RescueTime app (time tracking)
      2. activity log (made during the day)
      3. list of Most Important Tasks planned day before and actual results
      4. thoughts how can I be more productive
    3. finances
      1. calculations of how much my business made today
      2. screenshot of my YNAB list of expenses
    4. personal development (not sure about that one since I can write about it in main journal)
      1. what new I've learned this day
      2. what book/article I read and thoughts about it
      3. what good inspiring video I watched
    5. accomplishments
      1. every accomplishment, outcome in a new note

    - and score: The more accomplishments I achieve the better score I have.

PS. The reason for me to start writing journal is to increase my awareness.

You probably don’t own a paper shredder either  :)

There are definitely some documents that need encryption; like passwords.  Other documents depend on your personal level of paranoia.  I’m selective about what gets encrypted - this will change when my data gets hijacked

I was paranoid about many things in the past. But I've figured out that no one cares about my data. Apple workers doesn't care about my photos, Google workers doesn't care about my finance reports, and Evernote doesn't care about my diary, personal thoughts etc.

Password and Credit Card numbers - yes, definitely should be encrypted. I can lose money if someone hack my account and get this data. (but if he hacked account, he probably know how to hack encryption too?)

Well, I don't care too much about "snoopers"... Every site spy us, even Facebook asks for scan of ID to verify account.

I want to make my life easier. Passwords yes in LastPass or 1Password, because they're encrypted and it's easier to log in. (I have different password to each service)

But for example licenses? I think it's okay to store them in Evernote. I can always add some notes, check buy date, attach receipt, etc. - all in one.
Should I encrypt it? Hmm it would not make my life easier. What bad can happen if I don't encrypt it? I think 2-step verification on Evernote is enough to be safe about my notes.

    Editing sessions during the day

How many sub-journals do you have? How many sessions and how much time each?

You create this notes using templates and your dialog script, right? How many templates you have in total? If you want to edit your template becasue you think you can improve it, add some tables etc. you re-edit old notes then?

  11. I want to write about below topics in my diary everyday:

    - what was I dreaming and how my sleep went (how I feel after wake up)
    - daily accomplishments (outcomes)
    - personal developement (what new I learned that day, what book I was reading, what article I read, what video I watched)
    - productivity (activity log, screenshot of time tracking apps, thoughts on how productive I was and why)
    - finances, and maybe 2 or 3 more things.

If I write about all these aspects in one note - that would make it difficult to check i.e my dreams day by day for few weeks. Productivity part once can be at top and another one at bottom of the note. Hard to locate it... and hard to compare.

I think of doing one MAIN note and link those 5 additional notes there. Not sure if this is good approach. I will spend lots of time on it probably...

BTW. How much time do you spend on journal everyday?

Like @gazumped, I use LastPass for my passwords; including my Evernote password

This is not a question of storage; I'm covered with Evernote

The password manager apps allow me quick and easy access
I could manage without one but it would be much effort to retrieve my username/password and paste into a login screen. This is quicky done by Lastpass

What about your ID scan or family member scans?

I don't have problems to keep my personal life on someone's servers but maybe it's bad approach. Also impossible to hide all private stuff nowadays...

  13. Hey, I like to have everything in one place. I don't need waste time to think where is what I want. I just type it in Evernote and get results.

I archived all my emails (about 5k) to EN with @DTLow script and help. Thank You, again.
I linked all my local files and Google Drive documents to EN as a reference too.

Now I feel like all is in place. It took me a lot of time but my head is clear now.

Except music and photos I have almost everything in a single app. And because I'm lazy - currently I'm more likely to write document directly in Evernote than in Google Docs. The reason is that I have one less step to do (no linking).

I'm not sure if this is good approach. For example I wanted to start a Daily Journal. And here's the question. Should I use dedicated app like Day One (already used it before) which is great, has better app design, fonts looks better, it's easier to write. It's pleasure but then I have to search in two different places.

Example: My finances aren't going as they should. I search for biggest transaction this month. It turns out Louis Vuitton $2,5k+ receipt. Shopping. Why? It wasn't planned. What happened that day, how I felt, why I did it? I don't see it immediately. lol

I can archive Day One note to PDF and then export to EN, as I do with emails. But then I will have same note in 2 apps and more work to do. If I want to edit something, PDF in EN will be outdated.
