I agree 100%. If you're going to force all checkboxes to turn into checklists, why even bother retaining the old feature? Seems like Evernote product management is getting a little sloppy.
This "feature" is very frustrating. I use Evernote for genealogical research and I use the checkbox for tracking lists sources that I've found/not found. In this use case, the checkbox represents that I've found the source. Crossing out the text is the opposite of what I want, in this case, and renders the list unreadable. Ugh.
I did see the workaround, but it doesn't work very well when adding to the middle of an existing checkbox list...Evernote keeps flipping all entries to checklists.
Please STOP automatically converting every checkbox list to the new checklist format
in Evernote for Windows Requests (Versions 10.0 and above)
