I have had two small items on my Scratchpad for a couple of months, these get updated fairly regularly as they are just memory jogs, they sync with my other devices with no problems.

I made a number of tests this morning and the issue is the iPad. When opening EN app on iPad if the scratch pad has been modified lastly using my PC it gets duplicated. Almost always.

I told EN techs... let's see if they can do something

    bye

Thank you PinkElephant for directing me to the in App support ticket method. I got a reply back saying that this is a known issue and that they are working on it. Here was  a portion of their official response.

"Upon checking, I can confirm that we are currently aware of this issue, and our development team is currently working on a fix. Although I don't yet have a time frame for when this issue will be resolved, I can assure you we're working diligently to fix it as quickly as possible. I know that this does not immediately correct this issue that is interrupting your workflow, and I appreciate your help in reporting this."

ok, good news they know at least. I sent them tons of issues, some quite blocking for me. They know of each and everyone now... let's wait and thanks to PinkElephant for the link

Welcome to the forums. Can you say more about what's going wrong with the scratch pad? I don't use it very much, but my impression is that it is meant for grabbing quick thoughts, which can be converted to notes before long, rather than for long-term information storage. I just tried, and a scratch pad does sync between Web client and Windows desktop app, but I don't know for how long.

Exactly it's meant for that. But I expect writings could last few hours/days without duplicating when switching to iPad (that is the case)

Same thing has been happening to me for the past couple of weeks and it's very annoying. The scratch pad is meant to work and it always has in the past until recently. I tried to report this on the Evernote website and it is saying that their troubleshooting website is Temporarily unavailable. I hope Evernote getting bought out by another company hasn't left the support staff gutted and leading to poor product support.

Evernote is clearly going down a slope as product. Send feedback doesn't work anymore, no way to communicate with them a new bug every release

A real pity. It used to be, and it's still when working around the bugs, an incredibly good tool...

  5. My scratch pad keeps on duplicating the text inside when I jump from one device (e.g. iPad) to another (e.g. PC). Almost daily!

Either the text is duplicated inside the ScratchPad or two versions of Scratch Pad exist and one have to choose which to keep

    Anyone else?

    Please fix, thank you

    regards

EN has an API, but it is not a public cloud service. Developers who use that API need to keep their apps current, in the case something changes at the main application.

Even if for technical reasons the API can’t be used for specific jobs any more: It is as it is. The developers of the app behind the API can develop their side technically. If it takes the app ahead, the API function is left behind.

It is not that the API is generally broken - it works for other uses. But likely the specific use Noteshelf makes needs an overhaul.

I told them. Let's see. If not fixed sure for some there's one less reason to use EN... there are still a lot though, but one less

Am I correct in thinking that Noteshelf is another application that you use?

If so, it is very likely that the new Evernote sync changes are breaking the connection between Noteshelf and Evernote.

A number of third party applications have struggled with previously functioning work flows since the new sync.

Although the root cause is likely to be the changes with the Evernote sync you will need to ask the Noteshelf developers about their plans to work with the new Evernote sync limitations.

    Understand. I'll contact them.

On the other side breaking public sync services is a very loose behavior from Evernote developers.

Think what would happen if only one cloud service (you name it: dropbox, icloud, onedrive, ... ) would break their sync services... thousands of apps rely on them!

I find evernote release system should improve regression testing in general (not only for this issue)

    Just my thoughts

regression: something that used to work in previous releases and dosn't work anymore in a new release

Print problems with notes with tables was not there couple o months ago (i've got PDF perfectly made of notes that now are not exporting correctly anymore)

Noteshelf exported notes issue was ok in the prev release, now doesn't work anymore (take a noteshelf book and sync with Evernote and see the note, it used to be a read-only note with a number of images as the number of pages of the noteshelf book)

Slowness it's not a regression though

Understand not to post twice, I will not do it anymore

    thanks

Hope one of these link to screencap works. The broken table issue happens when A4 page is selected. The initial white page happens always.

Hi.  What does 'regression' mean in this context?

-and please don't post twice on any subject - I deleted your other post.

  10. Printing and exporting to pdf dosn't work when there is a table in the note (a table with few lines exceeding 1 page height, not overly long). Certain cells are not printed (esp. if the text is on more rows inside a cell), an empty page appears at the beginning before the table... in the picture below raw 19 appears with no cells while they are in the note...

Noteshelf notes export to Evernote are not visible anymore. The note gets created but the noteshelf pages are not visibile in the Evernote note.

    Still slow

Lots of regressions, I suggest a more solid regression testing process for the releases.

Evernote for Windows 10 PC here. Tested over 2 PCs same issues

OK, if this is the answer to my question: You mean the export to pdf function.

Does „Print note“, and then print to pdf work for you ?

Just to mention it again: Print to pdf works on the iOS client - could be another workaround.

Beside this I agree that it takes too long to fix this issue. On the current Mac release it seems fixed - I will take a deeper look later.

Hi, I'm talking about Windows since we are in the Windows thread ;)

When there's a table inside the note, blank pages are added to the exported PDF. This is the problem

I'm talking about "Export to PDF"

Print as PDF has other problems. I will make a sep post on it

Sure it is a regression as it used to work fine months ago. I find Evernote is quite prone to regressions

@Joeee Your post is not to the point: Do you mean the "Export to PDF", or do you mean print to PDF (which is not going through the export function, it goes through the print dialogue, using a pdf "printer" to create a file) ?

Furthermore this thread is about EN on Windows - please post iPad related information in the correct subform. BTW I tried the "Print to PDF" dialogue on my iPad, and it worked just OK, no issues, preview and all. There is no direct export to PDF on iPad.

Ok forget the iPad stuff,  I just thought to mention it.

The point is that Export on PDF on Windows is broken as per first part of my prev post

It used to work few weeks ago

  13. Today we can

    - password protect the access to the whole Evernote

    - password protect (encrypt) a "piece" of text inside a note

    Request

    - possibility to password protect a single entire note.

    Why

    - I might have one single compex note  (with text, attachments, sketches, audio, etc. not only text) that I want to be secured and not visible on my devices unless unblocked via a password

    Behaviour

    - when clicking on a protected note a password pop-up would appear otherwise the note is not shown

    - password protected notes are shown without preview in snippet view

    - different notes can be password protected with their own different passwords

    - all other notes follow the security level set by the user: if no password is required to access Evernote while logged in, then all other notes are visible as usual

    - a password-protected note can be "unprotected" eliminating the password

    thanks
