Hi there @DLS, welcome to the Forums!

Our development team is currently aware of this issue and is working on implementing a fix, though I do not have a specific timeframe for when that will be released. Make sure to always keep your Evernote app updated so you don't miss out on the latest issue fixes and feature releases!

Let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!

I am not even sure it was an option or a feature.

When you printed a note, the Title was an automatic part of the printout. Notes have titles to the note. It is a crucial part of a note. Unless you like Untitled notes. This needs to be fixed.

This is not a feature request. It was a simple option on printing that was available 5 days ago, that is now not working with this latest "update".

Exactly! I had been able to print titles everyday until about a week ago, and it's very frustrating. Please fix the problem.

When you're fixing this, I request this enhancement:  Allow user control of the printing of the "Subject" (or whatever Evernote calls it):

  • Font type and size (or at least size)
  • Whether it prints out on just the first page or all pages
  • Left, center, or right justified

Hi all,

For those still suffering and until it gets sorted here is a workaround.

When you go to print, select pdf at the bottom of the window.

Print from here and your title will be there.

Hope this helps.

Tried it. Doesn't work.

Hi bobebo67,

Thanks for trying it. Can you explain what is exactly happening?

The creation of a pdf seems to show the title and when you print from the pdf, it will obviously print what is on display.

Are you seeing the title when click on pdf?

Regards

Chris

I'm still on MacOS El Capitan maybe that's the difference.

The work around doesn't work. Open preview in PDF. There is no Title created in the preview. Actual print looks like what is in the preview. Tried Save as PDF. Same result.

Hi bobebo67,

Thanks for coming back.

I have just checked on my MacBookPro and like you I cannot see the title when I go to pdf preview. There is obviously something different with my iMac. I am away from home for the week, so cannot check why this is.

However, it may be because I have a pdf writer on the iMac, or the fact that the MBP is an older one with an older OS.

Hopefully Evernote will solve the problem soon.

Regards

Chris

Looks like the title printing issue has been fixed in version Version 6.10 Beta 1 (454114 Direct). But now the body of the notes is not printing. I would be laughing right now but it's too sad. Who does the Q&A at Evernote???? Someone needs to take a really hard look at the Q&A process. (By the way, it is NOT isolated to one note, it effects all my notes.)

This was NOT a problem before the recent updates. Why would you not be able to print the Note Title? Silly, really I printed 1 notes from one notebook, and I cannot figure out what the notes relate to, since the Titles are all not in the hardcopy!!

I saw the new update but ignored it until I get verification that this title issue is fixed. This has become an incredible waste of time for me. Evernote keeps adding stupid features and breaking things. Worse for me. The app is slow even on the fastest MacBook pro (mid-2015 maxed out video and process, memory). The slowness is in typing in titles. Always lags. Irritating. I sent in a report on that. Took several days for them to respond. Their suggestions didn't fix anything. Clearly something is wrong with Titles. Now (a month) printing those titles and continues time lag to fill in titles. On my Macbook Air it is the same thing, but overall the app is slower because it is an older computer. So why is it still slow on the fastest Mac? Because the app is SLOW.

Not sure what I am paying for now. When a software company makes more work for me that is when I start looking for alternatives.

Anybody else's bodies of the notes not printing now as well as the title? What is going on?

That bug has been reported in the beta testing - what version are you using?

Also experiencing the same problem as everyone else. Updated 3 days ago, and since then the title has disappeared when trying to print. I've had to save my note as a PDF, then manually add the titles through Preview.

Extremely frustrating given that I'm currently collating and printing notes for my final exams. Please fix this!

Problem for me, too. Any information available on the timeline on a fix?

In the interim, is it possible to roll back to when it did print correctly?

As others have said, this is a significant QC problem and a significant workflow impact.

So, according to Evernote support, this is not a bug:

When I print a note, the title isn't printed or turned into a PDF.

Apparently, this is a feature – or a feature which was eliminated in the recent Evernote software version. And I don't understand why one would do that. Apparently, there have been a few users here in the forum, which expressed the wish to not see the title of a note when printing it out. But I believe that for the vast majority of the users, the title of the note is essential information that is just part of a note.

Evernote could have responded to this by giving users an option to print or hide the title in the print menu. But apparently, this didn't happen.

So here's my feature request:

Please let us print the titles of notes again or at least give users the option to print the title (similar to the print header option). Please reconsider your decision to make the title unprintable.

Hi @idagrove. Your support ticket was in German so I did my best to translate using Google Translate. The fix for this issue will be in the upcoming Evernote release for Mac, version 6.10. Long story short, the option to print the note title was not eliminated. I believe what our German language specialist was trying to convey is that this issue is related to a change in the way note titles function in a note.

You can find the link to the latest beta version of 6.10 here:

I hope that helps clear up any misunderstanding! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

I don't pay for this app to use a Beta.

I don't pay for the basic app; my understanding it is free to all users.

I have the time and resources to participate beta testing and improving the product and am happy to do so.  We all benefit from the beta testing.

Regardless; when you can see an issue is fixed in the beta version, you can know it is being worked on, and it will appear in the next release.

I pay for the service, which is paying for the app, which doesn't do what it used to do.

I expect a working product. Not a beta.

BTW. The web version prints titles.

@bobebo67; The fix will be in the general release of 6.10, updating to the beta is optional.

Why do you think there will be a version 6.9.3?

The latest version is 6.10 Beta 3

Theres no timetable for a version 6.10 release, but it's imminent

I am not going to use a BETA. I am waiting for a fixed version.

Meanwhile my work around is [1] to copy and paste the title into the body of the note [2] select the copied title, [3] enlarge the font to 18 point, [4] make it bold. [5] Print.

Four more steps now then the 1 step prior. It is always re-assuring when a software company makes more work for its users then before. Plus all of the time spent posting to get this feature or remove feature  reinstated.

I just upgraded to macOS Sierra (10.12.1) and the PDF is now completely empty. So at least now the body and the title of the text are treated the same way when printing Of course I would like it to be the other way :-)

A known issue

@trananha91 of course I did (I usually start with a PDF Preview before printing).

Interestingly, today the body is printing fine; I only have the header issue. No clue what happened here.

Let's all wait for the next update and we'll see how it goes. Shipping a version of any software takes time, regardless of how minor the update may appear to be.

Hi, I updated yesterday to version 6.13.1 of Evernote and I can't print titles anymore. This is really frustrating because I do need title to be there.

Can you please advise? Thank you.

Work with MAC OS Sierra version 10.12.6

Why is printing document titles a "feature request"? It should be a given option. Otherwise, what's the point of having the title there when it's not even an option to include in printing? Very odd, and to this day unresolved??? What's up, Evernote?

Hi, I'm using the most up-to-date version of Evernote on my Macbook. I'm also a VERY long-time Evernote user. Can't tell you how frustrating it is that I can't do simple, critical tasks like print titles of my notes. (I want to verify that, in previous versions, this used to work just fine.)

I'm cheering for you Evernote. I'm a fan, not a hater. But you're making me feel as though it's time to start looking around.

You are kidding me that it is all of the sudden impossible to print titles.  This is not a bug!  I develop software and if this happened to a client I wouldn't have a job if it wasn't fixed ASAP.  The first report was seven days ago.  I am a paying customer and can not believe that all of the sudden I can not print a title to a note.  I don't have an option.  Are you trying to drive people to another product?   I've used this for years and am shocked that his has happened.  FIX IT NOW!

My understanding is that the Print Headers issue is a bug introduced in the 6.12 versions
Evernote is aware of the issue and will be fixed in a future release

The immediate solution is to downgrade your installation to a previous version

This requires an immediate interim release. Being able to print notes with titles is a critical functionality.

As to the Evernote employee whose response included that users should be sure to keep up with Evernote releases, it is exactly one of those most up to date, apparently inadequately tested releases, that has the bug causing this problem. A bug effecting a critical and basic functionality like this should not slip through the testing and quality control process. And an employee of the company whose response includes that users should be sure to update in a timely fashion, something irrelevant to the current situation, but one can only assume included as a distraction... Such a response is simply annoying and that employee should be educated as to how to address the concerns of customers.

Not sure of which post, this is mostly a user discussion forum

My take on upgrades is to control upgrades to your device

  • Review the upgrade post, and discussion; know the changes, and bugs discovered
  • Don't upgrade if the version won't work for you.
  • If you upgrade but encounter an unworkable issue, downgrade to an issue that works for you.

This seems to have been going on for over a year. I am on a MacBook Air, running High Sierra 10.13.1. Evernote is 6.13.1. It has recently stopped printing Titles. They do not appear in PDF either.

Is it being fixed. Surely a big push by the programming team (there seem to be plenty of them listed in About Evernote) can find out why this is happening.

Just wanted to mention that I ran into this problem today on Mac 6.13.1. Thankfully I found this thread, and 6.13.2 Beta 1 does in fact fix the missing title issue for me (and makes the "print headers" checkbox actually do something).

Oh my god, how is this still an issue in 2019? I've seen 3 or 4 threads confronting this, with the first one beginning in 2016.

I'm actually a paying user of Evernote, and I am unable to export a PDF or print a document without either a title in bold or 'Untitled' appearing where I want no text at all.

Until now I've regarded Evernote as a high quality text platform, but this is kinda a deal breaker? Kinda makes it actually un-usable as a text platform? I can't print a document without unwanted text there... Why? Why must I copy/paste my text into another piece of software to do this.

Just call me DTLow

Evernote resolved the non-printing title issue
There's a request posted here for a noprint option; it hasn't generated much user support

>>Until now I've regarded Evernote as a high quality text platform

I'm not sure what "high quality text platform" means
I consider Evernote a high quality platform for the storage and organization of my notes/documents

Evernote provides a note editor; the format is enml/html
This is a digital tool, with only basic print features
