Can't Install - "already installed" which it isn't.

Recommended Posts

So, it's the same old problem Evernote haven't fixed - problems installing Evernote on Win 10

I get the message: Evernote was already installed by another user. Online one per-user installation is supported. An adminstrator can install Evernote for everyone after the per-user installation is removed.

I went through the registry and removed all instances of the product as per the installation records here. I cleaned the registry and temp files and spent several hours buggering about trying to get Evernote to install.

This is my install log:

(PS Can you tell I'm fed up with Evernote yet?)

Hi.  As you may know,  we're not Evernote or Support - this is a (mainly) user-driven forum to share comments and ideas.  If you're a paying subscriber I'd strongly recommend you raise a support ticket to get some official help.  If you're a premium user* (and depending on your time zone) you should be able to get a chat session going for some more immediate help.  Meantime maybe a Win10 user (which I'm not - yet) may be able to help with suggestions.

Given that the log you quoted mentions "Detected version installation" it looks like there was something tucked away in your system that gave the installer the wrong impression.  As a matter of interest,  was Evernote ever installed on this device by anyone?

Meantime:

  1. Try using a utility like Glary Utilities (not endorsed by Evernote) which - allegedly - finds unused/ unnecessary entries in the registry and cleans up your system.
  2. Watch this space - a W10 user may be along shortly...

*If you're not currently a premium user you may be able to upgrade for a month to get chat support and then downgrade back to your current level.
