Hello,

Could we have a button that opens up work chat? Preferable at the top toolbar where the upgrade, new note, and shortcuts are. It's inconvenient to use the view drop down every time I want to communicate to my teammates.

Thanks

Right click in the empty part of the toolbar, select "Customize...", and drag the Work Chat icon to your toolbar.

I just want to say thank you to the Evernote Windows team for the recent work.

With this latest beta and the earlier v6 additions, I am very happy with the tweaks that's been done to the windows platform. I also appreciate the improved two-way dialogue with the community.

When I saw that ZOOM is available, I couldn't resist the beta. Even though I have warned people to be careful when using a beta, I ignored my own comments and dove in. Scroll with keyboard and Scroll with my mouse scroll wheel - awesome.

I can now put my magnifying glass away. Thank you.

And a special thank you for bringing back the Created Date to the main screen.

OMG!  This is a major milestone!  Either JB has gone over the edge, or Evernote reliability has dramatically improved!

Just kidding, JB.  You know I'm on the same page as you.

The initial sync after you log in will take time because it's building your Evernote database. The time it takes for the initial sync to complete depends on: how much content you have in Evernote, your connection speed, and your PC.

Haven't had time to test out all of the features of the newest beta, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the zoom function. How many years has it taken to get that feature implemented? 6 full versions and all the many sub-versions! +1 for Julie Andrews - not forgetting all the kids as well!

Please keep pushing. There are quite a few features that were requested for years. We're listening!

Do you really want Ctrl+Q to "Get there faster"?

On the Mac, Cmd+Q is Quit and Cmd+W is close window.

On the PC, Control+W is close window, but Alt+F4 is Quit.

In Outlook, Ctrl+Q is "Mark as read".

In my fingers, Ctrl+Q does not have anything to do with search.

Could you consider changing this to Ctrl+F for Find?

If this is a clipped page, you may need to run Simplify Formatting before attempting to edit the zoomed page. Web pages sometimes have complicated HTML that was only designed for one specific layout/size and react poorly to being zoomed/edited.

Well Ctrl+Q is for "Quick search". Ctrl+F is already in use within EN, for searching inside the current note.

And to compare, Ctrl+Q doesn't have anything to do with what you want to "show as read" either. And the fact that Cmd+Q is quit on a Mac should have nothing whatsover to do with what Ctrl+Q can be used for on a PC, since Ctrl+Q never has that function on a PC.

My guess is that they went for Q is because it is rarely used for intrusive commands in other software, and therefore it doesn't require the use of a third button - like most other EN-specific keyboard shortcuts where you also have to press Alt/Shift.

Good Morning.  Is it possible that the developers will return the sync status pop-up that appears in the lower-right of one's monitor when sync has completed?  Assuming, that is, that the registry setting at \HKCU\Software\Evernote\Evernote\ShowSyncStatus=1, which mine is.  Curious about why this function is no longer recognized.

Thanks for listening.

With Evernote 6.1.1 Beta 2 the maximized state of the window still gets lost after a reboot. Even after trying to "save" the maximized state of the window by maximizing, then quitting the application, then re-launching it, then rebooting.

Works every time here. Are you sure other Evernote options are saved? Looks like the policy on your computer prevents Evernote writing into its registry key.

Yes, other settings are saved. This happens on my home computers -- there's no policy preventing anything.

Quitting and restarting works fine -- the application window remembers its maximized state. But when it auto-launches with Windows, when I restore it from the tray it's in a window rather than maximized.

Link to comment

@csihilling Yes. And like I said, the state of the window is getting saved successfully and then retrieved successfully when quitting and launching Evernote within a Windows session. It's the auto-launch of Evernote with Windows that causes the problem. Only after rebooting is when it forgets its maximized state. Maybe Evernote starts running in the tray before Windows has fully finished loading, and the screen resolution is not yet know to Evernote, or something like that. btw, I have a dual-monitor system (two monitors running 1920x1200), and I like to have Evernote maximized on the primary monitor.

Perhaps the problem lies in the properties of the startup shortcut for Evernote - Windows shortcuts that result in application/document/etc windows have the option of starting the application maximized, normal, or minimized.  Might be worth experimenting with - I have had to do so several times over the years to get programs to start the way I want them to.

The EvernoteTray application's shortcut has the setting 'Normal window'. I've checked some other applications' shortcuts to see what they have, and they also have the setting 'Normal window'. And they remember their maximized state across reboots. So I believe that the setting 'Normal window' leaves it up to the application to decide/remember.

@kvitekp Can you confirm that you've got Evernote set to auto-launch with Windows, and that after doing a reboot, you click the tray icon and up pops a fully maximized window?

Kudos for the Ctrl-Q enhancements and resetting the context.  Very helpful and much appreciated, thanks.

I think there is still a small bug, or is it intended (a so called feature)? Steps to reproduce (hope it works):

1. strg+q opens the dialog
2. select one of the saved searches (mouse click or keyboard)
3. reopen the dialog via strg+q
4. select one of the last searches (mouse click or keyboard)

The filter result would be an combination about saved-search-selection + last-search-selection

This does not happen if I open the dialog twice an enter two search terms on my own, by ignoring the presets...

May you can describe a little bit more about the intened behavior, and whats "resetting the context" exactly means.

Thanks in advance.

ctrl-f would not work globally, bec. it's already reserved in searching inside of notes. Would be cool to have something like ctrl+shift+q (oops - it closes the client (Windows 10))

Yeah, I see the same thing. I get a search containing parameters of the saved search and the recent search.

Need a developer response here relative to intended behavior.  I thought Ctrl-Q was intended to always create a clean palette and would reset the context to all notes.  Particularly if you have HKCU/Software/Evernote/Evernote/ResetContextOnSearch set to 1

Speaking from personal experience.

Age-related Vision Changes

Beginning in the early to mid-40s, many adults may start to have problems seeing clearly at close distances, especially when working on the computer. This is among the most common problems adults develop between ages 41 to 60. This normal change in the eye's focusing ability, called presbyopia, will continue to progress over time.

There seem to be an bug with using tag suggestions, while applying an existing tag with a diacritic character to a note.

If I have an old tag called Företag, that I want to add to a note, it shows up as a suggestion when I start typing Före...

But if I click the relevant suggestion, EN ignores that and creates a new tag with the name of only the letters that I had entered (Före). However the bug does not apply if the old tag has a diacritic character far enough into the name that I can click the suggestion before I have manually typed the letter with the diacritic character.

This means that the bug is the most obvious if the diacritic character is the first letter in the tag name.

This is a bug. Quick Search is supposed to clear current search context when recent search is selected and ClearContextOnSearch option is in effect.

Thank you for reporting! This problem is fixed in internal builds.

Super-thanks for bringing back the Tags view!

I'm confused about the behavoir of the Forward and Back buttons: Lately I've started to use these buttons more actively. I've noticed the Back button doesn't always bring be back to the previous Note (or View). When I long-press the Back button, the history also doesn't seem to be what I would expect it to be.

This is my scenario:

I have Note called Itinerary. This note contains links to various other hotel and flight reservation notes. When I'm in Itinerary and click on the note link for Flight1, it takes me to the note for Flight1. When I click Back, I go back to Itinerary (expected behaviour). Also, when I long-click on Back, it does show Itinerary in the history (expected behavior).

Now - being back in Itinerary - and I click on the link for Flight2, it brings me to the note for Flight2 (so far so good).

However, if I now click on Back, it will not bring me back to Itinerary, but to Flight1. Also, when I'm still in the note for Flight2 and long-press the Back button, the history shows me Flight1, and nothing after that. So it seems to have lost Itinerary.

I can consistently reproduce this scenario. It also happens when I for instance go to the Tags View instead of another note. It also doesn't seem to matter if I edit one or all notes - the history still doesn't seem to be what I would expect it to be.

So, either I misunderstand how these buttons are supposed to work. Or we have a bug??

Thanks for listening guys!

Hi

If I grab the following page http://math.stackexchange.com/questions/397925/lhopitals-rule-in-deriving-cobb-douglas-function-from-ces-production-function my Evernote Desktop for Windows freezes as soon as I click on the note. I clipped the page in Chrome using the "page" option in the clipper.

Just noticed that this also happens in Chrome in my on-line notes.

Hi there,

I paid premium version one week ago and now I face the audio recording problem with EV on Windows.

Very unhappy now.

The latest record work fine is on 20/02/2016. It cash from 09/03/2016 to now.

I use EV on Windows to record audio. I work and create .wav file and with play button. I click on it to play, but can't hear anything. Just a noisy beep.

I try to test on mobile, it creates .amr file and works fine.

Link: http://www.evernote.com/l/ATuKFJ7-mGlOc6wokLuM4417Vxtbzgo8Rnw/

- Tried test on Windows 10, version from Evernote_5.9.6.9494 to Evernote_6.1.1.2201 (beta release) with no luck. Download the old version from: http://filehippo.com/download_evernote/67084/

- Windows recording work fine with other program.

I also lost my yesterday record with customer. Please help me out of here.

Not sure this has been reported (too lazy to go back through the various 6 threads), but as far as I can tell inheritance does not work if you select a parent tag from a Ctrl-Q search, from the tag drop down in the search area (parent doesn't even appear), or if you enter tag:parent.tag in the search bar.  First image is after selecting the tag from the tag tree, second is tag drop down, third is keying into search bar,  Ctrl-Q result looks just like entering in the search bar.

Is this the intended behavior or do I have something hosed?

1. The note scroll still not fixed - on touch screen, I can't use touch to scroll text in note, instead of that it highlights text. Scrolling list of notes is fine with touch.

2. The scroll bar on the right in the list of the snippet and card view uses custom width, its not the same width as standard used in Windows. If for example I customize the scrollbars in windows to be thicker, all bars in windows such as browser and explorer will have the custom thickness. Same for Evernote, but the bar in the snippet list and card view list remains same thickness, it doesn't conform to settings in Windows. Please change. The particular bar is very thin for touch screen use.

3. Can't click on REMINDER button or REMINDER-DATE. Downloaded this latest version and it doesn't work here. Even if I open note in new window, still can't click on reminder, meaning I can't change or add reminder and can't compete reminder. I haven't seen the issue before. The issue is on Windows 10 machine. I have Windows 7 machine with 6.1.0 installed and no problems there. But its not possible rolling back to older version without having to uninstall,,so I can't test.

This last issue is critical for me, the other ones I can live with right now.

EDIT

Issue 3: Just to clarify - when I click on REMINDER, the field gets highlighted but the usual popup window to change date options doesn't come up.

Is there a way to know at which zoom level one is. And how to reset it to 100% zoom level. If there isn't, when can we expect it?

Implementing something that Microsoft has in its Office applications would be perfect and most elegant solution I should think.

Finally we can zoom that page. Kudos. ...just fish for the the zoom level indicator and an easy and logical way to get back to 100% zoom level. Thanks.

@kvitekp Please note this issue on Windows. When we look up the Extended TAG List, and want to re-align one of the New Tags, to an organized position, in the extreme right, holding the selected Tags and dragging them to the left with the mouse, the UI would automatically move left or right based on Mouse position, to allow us the freedom to drag and drop the Tags. This function is not working in latest build. Please take a loolk.

1) Issue since 6.0 (unless I'm mistaken) - caret jumps to the beginning of the note after pasting a screenshot with ctrl+v somewhere into the body of the note

2) Zooming with ctrl+scrollwheel doesn't just zoom, but also scrolls

Tested with latest windows stable and beta, Windows 7 x64, no special mouse software (microsoft drivers only).

Regarding Quick Search, I find it bewildering why there would be a secondary search box popup. Why not just build the quick search functionality (ie recent and saved searches, search suggestions) into the main search bar; which also already had a shortcut key of F6?

F6 Search Box searches for notes displaying the result in note list, whereas Ctrl+Q Quick Search searches for notebooks, tags, saved and recent searches, and search suggestions, displaying results in popup window. EN5 had one entry field for both searches and results where displayed in the note list and popup window showing up at the same time, which was confusing for many users. In addition, search box was detached and too far from the primary results (note list), and was difficult to use on wide monitors. To fix this, note search entry field was moved right on top of the search results and more global search for all other items got  separate UI and shortcut key.

Regarding Quick Search, I find it bewildering why there would be a secondary search box popup. Why not just build the quick search functionality (ie recent and saved searches, search suggestions) into the main search bar; which also already had a shortcut key of F6?

Also, the main search bar isn't reachable from single note view, but Quick search now is.

Yes, it's already fixed in the internal builds.

@kvitekp This was not fixed in the final version, 6.1.2. After rebooting, when I click on the tray icon, I still get a restored window, not a maximized one.

Note: Two things are not getting restored: the last state of the window, and the last tag I had selected in the sidebar (instead it just selects the top-level 'Notebooks' view).

@emerick @kvitekp Still waiting for a reply. Are you keeping up with the free bug reports in the forums from your users, for issues your QA team never find on their own?

If you really feel that this is such an important issue that you have to mention it over and over I suggest you also explain why it is so important to you. In that way you also make the developers understand how serious the user base is affected by the issue.

I don't want to be disrepectful, but your repeated request to have this "bug" fixed instead of other priorities make it sound like the issue, which is overridden by a simple click on maximize after launch, is a deal breaker to you.

I'm sure the issue has been logged and will be fixed when it is deemed a priority.

Ctrl+KeyPadZero didn't make it into the betas, but it should work in the final version of 6.1. The feedback regarding a zoom percentage indicator has been noted, thanks!

Yes you are right. It has been fix. Thank you. It works well now. :) Regarding the zoom percentage indicator that would be really useful, thanks.
