Searching just my notebooks vs searching All Notebooks

Hello,

After installing ver 6.0.6.1769 (301769) Public, I was dismayed to find there is apparently no way to search the contents of just my notebooks vs all my notebooks and all notebooks that are shared with me.

In earlier versions it was possible to select All Notebooks or My Notebooks when searching - while there may be a way of searching just my notes, I have yet to find it.

Can anyone shed light on this?  I have searched the forum for posts on this - but perhaps am doing something wrong?

Also can anyone help me on how to search within a note is the same version? The in-note search doesn't seem to be working as it used to with Ctrl+F in the earlier version.

Ctrl+F still searches within the note. Does it not work for you?

Hello @Austin G, has any progress been made on this request?  I subscribe to some shared notebooks, but I do not want to always have to sift through them in addition to my own notes looking for information. 

Is this a structural change to discourage subscribing to shared notebooks?  It is tremendously frustrating...

I made three screenshots to (hopefully) explain what I mean.  The first image shows the Notebooks object in the left panel.  The second screenshot focuses on the "Viewing xxxx notes in "All Notebooks" and the third shows the expanded list of "All Notebooks."

Through version 5, I was able to differentiate between MY notes, and SHARED notes.  

That differentiation appears to be gone now. 

Doesn't this bother anyone else as well?

The Evernote search documentation https://dev.evernote.com/doc/articles/search_grammar.php suggests that you can either search for notes in all your notebooks or just one specific notebook. There does not seem to be an operator that distinguishes "my notebooks" from "shared notebooks". There is an author: operator but I find that most of my notes have no author defined. 

For me this would not be a problem because I keep all my notes in one notebook and use tags to categorize the notes. This gives far more flexibility. As a workaround you could easily tag all the notes in shared notebooks with .shared or something and then either include or exclude them in your search (tag:.shared or -tag:.shared). 

An alternative would be to have a stack of shared notebooks. You can search for a stack using stack:mystack (which is not documented in the link above!) or just using the dropdown in the windows client.

My confusion (frustration?) stems from the now-lost ability to differentiate searches between all notebooks - including those shared with me - and just my own notebooks. 

That ability was quite useful; I have been learning the value of using tags, and am relying on them far more than ever - your suggestion about tag:shared or -tag:shared is brilliant.  Thank you!

No, because in this scenario (a frequent one), I am looking for the instance of a word or phrase, say, "Microsoft Word" - I don't know what notes have that term, and I want to find out, but only from my own content most of the time.

Does that help clarify what I am looking for?

Has anything changed since this issue was raised in May 2016? Today a friend shared with me a notebook containing +50,000 notes and to my frustration I see can't run a search that excludes them. I want to be able to access this notebook when I want to, but I don't want the notes showing up every time I use the search function. This is particularly frustrating because I remember it used to be possible to exclude shared notebooks from search results (in fact, that was the default option, if I recall correctly).

I don't have a vivid memory of how this was implemented, but I definitely remember being able to access a shared notebook without it being included in my search results.

Sorry, no clue then, unless you did something with, say, stacks or tags or something. The search language doesn't support any notion of shared notebooks, and you can only specify a single notebook or stack in a search query, and you can't filter out notebooks (i.e., no -notebook:MyNotebook terms). There's a "sharedate"  attribute you can search agains (e.g. sharedate:*), but that's only set on individually shared notes, not on notes in shared notebooks.
