(Archived) Controlling Paragraph Spacing

Often when I paste text into Evernote some (but not all) paragraphs will have extra space above and below. I'd like to remove this extra space (or add it, sometimes) but it seems untouchable. In addition, if I backspace (remove) from before the first character of the following paragraph (create a run-in) then hit a return, the lower paragraph adopts the spacing of the paragraph above (but none of the other paragraph specifications like type size or bolding). Any thoughts?

What application are you pasting from when you see this behavior? We would like to make the client handle pasted input consistently, but the Mac has many different clipboard text formats, and things are a bit challenging.
