mbirame 0 Posted October 12, 2015 Share Posted October 12, 2015 Hi folks,I am brand new to Evernote and I'm using it primarily as a repository for my GTD system. Therefore, I'm wanting to migrate many files, etc, that are currently all over my computer into the one Evernote ecosystem. An issue that I'm seeing is that I have a folder with several Sketchup files. I have turned that folder into a note where the files live. When I open the file from within Evernote, it opens in Sketchup as expected. If I make a change to the file and then save, then Evernote updates the file as expected. If I ONLY open the files within Evernote then there is no issue, but if I go straight to Sketchup and try to open "Recent files" then I'm greeted with several revisions of the same file that Evernote has saved on my computer. This creates huge bloat on my system as well as potential for real catastrophe if I open Sketchup and make edits and changes to the wrong revision. So my question is there a way to force Evernote to only save the latest revision of a file on my computer? Thanks! Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 11,639 Posted October 12, 2015 Level 5* Share Posted October 12, 2015 Hi. If you're using Windows, there's an odd folder called 'Attachments' in your Databases folder. Because Evernote allows other apps to open files directly from its notes, and because those apps need to open a specific file type - a JPG file forinstance - and maybe save temporary copies while you're working, a current copy of the note attachment is saved in this folder and sucked back into Evernote when you finally exit. Unfortunately the 'in progress' bits often then get left in that folder. If you do have that folder - and no attachments open in separate apps at the time - you could delete all those notes to avoid confusion and save some disk space. Similar comments probably apply for Mac, but I don't use that OS, so you'll need a bit of specialist help from someone if that's where you are. Link to comment
mbirame 0 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Share Posted October 12, 2015 I'm on a mac. From what I can tell, you are saying that temp files are created that are then deleted when Evernote is closed. I just tried closing evernote, and then opened Sketchup and navigated to "open recent". There are still multiple files of different revisions. All the multiple files open with their various edits, so Evernote is indeed saving multiple versions on the computer and not purging them. Link to comment
