Using two monitors with Skitch

Greetings. I am newbie here and hoping for some guidance.

I've been using the free version of Skitch daily for several years on my Mac. Like many others, I was pretty unhappy with the omission of some of the features in the newer versions (specifically adding shadow to images), so I have camped out on v.1.0.12.

I'm presently running Yosemite 10.10.4 on my MBP with an external monitor (extended desktop) and on previous iOS versions I was able to grab screen images from either screen with Skitch. Presently I am only able to grab them off of my laptop screen (once I click SNAP, I cannot move my mouse to my external monitor). I don't know if this is a setting in (the old) Skitch or something to do with Yosemite, but wondering if anyone has any suggestions here.

Obviously Skitch has taken a backseat to Evernote and they won't support older versions. If I am blind in one eye (and not seeing out of the other), and there is a way to add shadows in a newer version, please advise.

TYIA,

Jeff
