First of all the Surface Pro 3, and now the Surface 3, are invading the workplace faster than the IPAD. It is amazing at how many devices that I see these days, yet Evernote seems to not even want to remain relevant in this eco system.

I am now using OneNote for all of my note taking, as Evernote does NOT yet have a handwriting application for the windows ecosystem.

YES I am a PREIMIUM member and have been for a VERY VERY long time.

1. HANDWRITING - either announce that evernote will not be used for note taking ro get on this FAST, users are leaving....

2. ICONS / COLOUR CODING, I want to be able to visually group my items, maybe even have TAGS colour an item would be awesome. But some way of assigning a COLOUR to all this white (This help prioritize a LOT, as well as group things more visually. (See GOOGLE KEEP, which is fast catching up...)

3. SET ICONS Please can we have some URGENT or a bunch of ICONS that we ourselves can set, again they can attach based on a tag, or they can attach based on just a item. I know if you add a picture to an item that it will show up, and I use this as a workaround But come one, NO URGENT icon or anything.

4. LOCK MY LIST of TAGS (Please this happens so often. I rarely create new tags now. I want to lock my tags down, maybe add a lock feature, then add a special command to add a new tag, or warn of creating a new tag, ANYTHING!!!

5. WORKFLOW - Please have some concept of workflow, for tasks in flight, and complete. How cool would it be to have a KANBAN board that I can flip my items onto and drag them from to do to in progress and then complete.

6. Comments on an item - Add comments in a list type interface ie: I could add notes each dat about an item, without editing the item text it's self, maybe even have a time tracking or add I spent 5 hours on this on this day and did xyz.. this would be a huge advantage for larger items (Yes I use this for WORK)

I think if those features were all addressed, especially the handwriting, though I am aware that all of the other items are more of a priority, the last and final item and I KNOW that I am not alone in this...

7. TEXT FORMATING for Right Text.. this can;t be that hard, there are so many libraries out there that have such a vast improvement for rich text editing beyond what evernote can do.

Please help... I LOVE evernote... But I am slowly being pushed to ONE NOTE and Google Keep and Trello, I just want Evernote!!!!!

PS this dialog that I am entering this note in for your forums has much more advanced formatting options than Evernote does.... Like that isn;t a kick in the teeth....

- Just to note that the forum software isn't owned or coded by Evernote and the forums have about 1% of the main app's features...

As to the rest - whatever works for you.  Evernote has its own strategy,  and no doubt they'll introduce more features as time goes on.  The devs do read these posts, so consider your protest made...

I'll speak for myself but suspect Fraserd is of a similar mind.  For me I am feeling an overwhelming sense of dread about Evernote.  [in perspective, I'm not going to jump off a bridge over a program but with respect to that program only.]  I looked at old change logs and found only bugfixes, business features, an update to work with their overpriced Evernote Scanner, and minor changes.  Nothing major has changed for the "Average Joe" user out there for a long time.  Now with others climbing the pile to get to the top it is looking like a death knell for Evernote if they don't get back to the innovation and improvements that got them here.

I wish only the best for Evernote and never thought it would be "second fiddle" but it's not looking good for them.  Just look here in the forums beyond the ever-present whiners and you will see some legitimate concerns being brought by even their most loyal followers.

I would love to hear what Evernote's strategy is.  What I am deducing from outward appearances is not encouraging.  I know they don't talk about specific features but even a believable statement of direction would do wonders.  Something like "We're going to get this Business thing going full force and then we will circle back to adopt some of the suggestions our individual premium users have been wanting for a long time." would help.

Yes, EN has their own strategy and priorities but when paying customers by the ?'s complain about the lame editor, for instance, you have to wonder why they haven't improved on it.  I personally find the editor quite adequate but it just seems EN is non-responsive to their users, more so as they grow.

I hope I'm wrong and I hope they get through this and do make it to be a 100 year company!

Evernote have never seemed to be slow in making changes for all users - although you may wish to argue about their choice of new feature.  I've been taking a close interest in updates for a while and the Windows client has gone through quite a few changes since late last year.  I only started noting in November,  but the roll of updates,  bugfixes and improvements has been pretty awesome (excuse the yyyymmdd dating) -

- that's more than one per month,  and the iOS / Mac / Android / WP / Blackberry apps all got updates in the same period.  That's insanely productive.  True they've had a few bumps in the road along the way;  but they're developing a package that offers the same features (as far as possible) in different devices and wildly different OS's so you can access your notes wherever they (and you) are.

I think they're doing pretty well.  If you disagree,  then by all means find an alternative - there are some out there,  and they may be enough for you.

Many of the bug fixes are for new features unleashed in the previous version. Long standing bugs and much-maligned mis-features go completely ignored for years. The evidence points to EN developers getting excited about a new feature such as work chat or context and spending time fixing the implementation of those rather than going through the boring old list of bugs occasionally.

The EN Windows client is probably my most used application since I started using EN in 2007 and I'm not sure I've seen any of the significant bugs fixed ever in that time. Usually EN rips out the current version and starts again every few years (versions 3, 4, 5 appearing to be complete rewrites compared to the previous major version), adding a few new features, dropping many more old ones, but always introducing many more new bugs.

I have a hard time taking this comment seriously. Evenote works just fine with the Surface Pro 3 interface. I take notes by hand, in Evernote all the time. The stylus converts them to text which I see as ideal. If I need to draw I can use Skitch to put a drawing in, but in my life text notes work about 95% of the time.
