Scanned business cards not editable after scanning

Hello all. I hope someone can advise me. I often have to scan a pile of business cards and my procedure so far has been to scan them with my iPhone and the sync Evernote on my Mac, so that I can add notes, correct names etc on the desktop. I have discovered that once business cards are  sync'd to the desktop that the business card notes are read only and it does not save any of the edits I have made.

 

Is it necessary to make any necessary edits, add notes etc on the iPhone before sync'ing??

 

Something I'm doing wrong?
