Possible to deselect auto background mode to save on power and memory?

Thanks for response.  But it will still use RAM, yes?  With the Google Lollipop upgrade, my memory for apps has shrunk, causing OS slugglishness, so I'm trying to prevent background operations.

If you exit the app completely by repeatedly pressing the Back button, I believe it is removed from memory.  You should be able to check this by viewing 'active applications'.  In any case, Android is intelligent with memory management and will shut down least-used apps when memory is required.

This is why Android task killers are pretty much useless - the OS does this quite well on its own.
