Order notes

Brett Milne

Idea

HI Currently using the windows and ipad/iphone versions of evernote but it would be really useful to be able to search notes and potentially tags by the due date. and to display the due date on the list snippet or card... It was also be useful to allow sorts based on an order of columns eg tag and due date...

Thanks

Hi.  Kind've asked and answered many times before;  there's no such thing as 'due date' in Evernote,  only Created Date and Updated Date.  They're both editable fields,  and you can set one or other of them (better if it's 'created date') to your due date for an event or task.  This is a searchable field too,  so you can find all notes due at the same time.  You can also use the title bar to show a due date with "yyyymmdd" at the beginning.  Since you can sort by title,  you can also sort by 'due date in title',  and that will show up in the snippet view for the note.  (You may not have much room for many details,  but at least you'll see the date!)

Tags can be used in the same way to 'set' dates,  and when you have a list of any notes,  all the columns are already sortable in ascending or descending order.

Some of these features are only available on desktop,  but if you need some sort order on a mobile that isn't normally available,  you can do it on the desktop,  create a TOC (table of contents) note for that sort,  and save that note for your mobile device.  Saved searches will be available on any platform.

Hope that helps...
