Presence: works in the note list of Web Beta (see the little icon/head in a shared Notebook) - but the note list in Windows client (snipplet view) don't show any new thing - no icons and so on (multiple syncing) ...

I think it would be a good thing to have an option to switch off Presence - not everybody want to be observed :-)

I think you will see in another area there are many Windows users who can not sync, some with only 200 notes and in my case the largest note is 203kb.  So the size of the file does not appear to the problem.

Glad they released the new version, at least they still have a Windows team.  Still does not fix the Sync problem....

I've now spent more than a working week on banging my head against Evernote.
Please can you acknowledge this issue and confirm when it is going to get fixed.
What is the advantage of paying for Premium when it doesn't work and there is no demonstration of a commitment to fix it?

I have to comment that my experience makes me very twitchy about introducing a beta version of anything into a production environment. That having been said, I suppose if nothing is working (syncing), then you haven't anything to lose.

To define the apparent problem rather more precisely, it seems that this is a problem for users using a Windows Client (Mac and Android Client users seem unaffected), and anecdotal accounts suggest that it may be caused by large notes (with lots of images), and possibly by low-speed internet connections. Furthermore, again anecdotally, the problem seems to equally hit users with huge volumes of notes (I have seen the number 15 000 notes mentioned) as well as users with a much smaller number of notes (I have seen one user with a couple of hundred notes).

Whilst I have the greatest respect for those users who have totally removed Evernote (using Revo) and then re-installed, it seems this course of action may or may not work.

It does also seem to me (without the benefit of any specialised knowledge) that this problem lies somewhere in the "pipe" between Evernote's servers and the user's interface on a Windows Client machine. In this context I define the word "pipe" as everything that happens between Evernote's Servers and the Windows Client (ie. Evernote's code, the Internet link, and the software running on the Windows Client).

Here I would make the point that the fact that your machine is running Windows and my machine is running Windows does not mean that the same things are happening under the covers - Microsoft continue to push out "Critical" and "Important" patches to the various flavours of Windows, and the description of the patches become ever more vague. There's not much I can do about this, but I would ask the support team/development team to take some notice of this because it's not unknown for Microsoft to issue a patch that solves one problem but creates a completely new problem.

Lastly, I would like to try and understand the ramifications of another possible means of remediation. In my case I had the situation where nothing was syncing. Shock, Horror, Despair! Then my desktop machine started syncing, but my laptop continued to fail. Running in desperation mode, I copied the Evernote "Database" folder from my Desktop to my laptop - and (Cheers, Cries of Joy & Clapping Hands!), my laptop then sync'd quite happily, and has continued so to do.

My hypothesis is that this cleared an irrecoverable problem in the "pipe" and permitted the laptop to happily sync. What I would like to understand is whether there is anything in the "Database" folder which is platform (ie. Windows, Mac or Android) specific, and whether there is anything that is specific to that particular client in the DB folder. In my case, my desktop machine is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and the laptop is running Windows XP, so it was kind of the same platform, but two different version of Windows.

I would really welcome some input from the EN development and/or support teams on this - even if it's a huge snort of derision, provided the snort is accompanied with some reasoning as to "why it is Not A Good Idea"

Anyone?

Data is stored in different structures on the different clients - Windows uses a database, Mac uses a filestore, I'd guess that iOS is a database and I've no idea what they do with Android.

At a guess and based on what I've read in a few of these threads, seems like the Windows Evernote app gets choked on something in the database and this is why a complete reinstallation often solves the problem. I'm also guessing that the Evernote team haven't identified all of the scenarios where this can happen and that is why you see the same result caused by a few different but similar use cases.

I fixed mine.

1.  I used Revo Uninstaller.  To be Clear, I used the Unistall not the Forced Uninstall.

2. I updated Windows.  I doubt this had any impact as I have 2 machines and both use a different version of Windows and only one was updated.

3. I turned off the Internet connection.

4. Via Revo installer, I reinstalled the latest beta version offered above (I had already downloaded it)

5. When it asked for the connection to the Internet I then turned the connection on.

6. It then syncronised correctly.

I then tried a different sequence on my other laptop.  I used the Forced unistaller and left the internet connection on.  It did not Sync.  So I gave up and followed the above and it worked, the other laptop syncronised.

Did a clean install of Evernote with this new beta, and I still can't delete these infuriating tags.

:(

Have you tried adding the tag to a dummy note and then deleting the tag from there?  Shot in the dark...

We are actively working with many users directly to help diagnose and resolve sync issues.

Evernote team Jack is actively helping me to solve the issue these days, although the problem is not identified and fixed yet, but great thanks for his help.

Unfortunately, yes. I have even stopped sharing on all notebooks (a pain for my coworkers), uninstalled Evernote, rebooted my computer, and they are STILL there. Most of these are duplicates - the tag is in use elsewhere. It's as if someone in my shared notebooks used the tag, and therefore Evernote made a permanent version I CANNOT get rid of. It's not an issue on my web client, MacBook Pro or my iOS devices - just my cursed Windows PC! It's a major, major, major pain in the tush. I was told in September a fix was planned for a future version of Evernote, and while it's only been 3 months... I'm losing patience.

Started having sync problems today, so read through this thread and followed all of the instructions on the knowledge base.  I didn't go so far as to use Rev uninstaller.  But I did uninstall and reinstall a couple of times, even as administrator.  Nothing worked.  Oddly my laptop and my tablet were not having problems, only my desktop.

I realized that my problems started almost as soon as I started using the clipper.  So I erased a very large pdf (400+ pages though less than 2 MB) that I had clipped. Also erased it out of the trash can.  Bingo.  My desktop started syncing again.  It uploaded to the web all of the 10 notes I had put on it before it stopped.

But then a final mystery. My laptop had everything now except for one note.  I realized that that note was one of the last ones that had been clipped and though it was small, it had a URL.  So in the web version I erased just the URL information.  Bingo again, now the note showed up on my laptop as well.

So something weird going on with the clipper.

It was the evernote web clipper that I had added as an extension to my Firefox.

I don't know about the in-built screen clipper.  How does that work? in case I need to use that instead of web clipper for the moment, it would be handy to know for me.

Thanks

Enjoying Evernote so far but I just wish that there was an easier way to import files from Info Select.  There used to be a way to info select folders to HTML notes and then import that, but I guess that doesn't work anymore.  So I am having to highlight the content of each info select note and drag that into a new note in Evernote (having made sure the title was in the first line of the info select note).  When you have  a lot of notes, that just takes time. Ugh.

That's a separate product. You might consider posting about your problem in the Web Clipper forum elsewhere here. jbignert, the Evernote staffer who rules that forum is usually pretty responsive and informative.

Usually it's set up to trigger on the Win+PrtScn (Windows key + Print Screen key pressed simultaneously). You can then define an area on the screen to capture. You can either just left-click & release in a window or drag a rectangle with the left mouse button held down. Normally the destination for the clipped bitmap is your Evernote notebook. Alternatively, if you hold down the Ctrl key while clipping, the destination is the Windows clipboard; if you hold down the Shift key, the destination is a bitmap file saved to your desktop. Hi, any update on the Windows Sych issue?  I haven't seen a relevant post since Jan-2015.  I generally only use my Windows laptop in the office, on the corporate lan, behind the corporate firewall.  However, it used to work and sych stopped working a few months ago.  I assumed it was a firewall issue but my corporate tech support team added "www.evernote.com/edam/note/s403" and "*.google-analytics.com/*" to my policies but it still doesn't work.  I only have (118) notes.  I may have some images, voice files, etc. stored in a few notes.  Nothing extravagant, nothing crazy.  Although, how do I identify notes with large media files attached or embedded?
