web (Archived) Firefox Add On not working

5 posts in this topic

Firefox 3.5.6

Mac os x 10.6.2

Firefox Web Clipper was working just fine until I installed the desktop application for Mac OS. Web Clipper defaulted to/opened in Mac not Firefox... So I uninstalled the desktop application since I prefer the web based program + firefox add on.... now the Firefox add doesn't pop-up/dead/won't work. I have disabled, uninstalled, and rebooted a million different times. Grrr Help!

It appears that the Firefox clipper "remembers" that you have the Mac client installed, and it will clip to the client directly. If you uninstall the client, there's a bug in the clipper that it fails to recover and go back to the web-only Javascript mode.

For now, I'd recommend that if you don't want to install the Mac client on your computer, you can use the Javascript-only "bookmarklet" clipper from this page by dragging it into your browser bookmarks toolbar:
