EN Syncing Issues on one platform

tsnouffer

Idea

I run EN across 5 platforms: Web, iPhone, iPad, iMac, and MacBook. On 3-4 occasions in the past the iMac got out of sync with the other devices.

Using the EN web as a benchmark, it seems that the iMac client will go through several days without updating notes so it essentially "gets behind" the other platforms. Forcing a sync by clicking on the circular arrows doesn't resolve it.

A couple of times now, I've reinstalled EN on my iMac and re-downloaded all the notes to get it back into sync.

This time around, I dug into my HDD a bit and found a lot of EN content in different places. I wonder if the multiple locations are confusing EN.

I have found the following:

4.75GB in:
/Users/tysnouffer/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote/Data/Library/Application Support/Evernote

and

6.3GB in:

/Users/tysnouffer/Library/Application Support/com.evernote.Evernote

Should I have that much info and two locations?

That seems like a good start. Any troubleshooting help you can provide?

My inclination is to pull out the content from those two locations, delete the Evernote app, and start again by downloading EN and re-syncing to DL the notes.

Thanks

Ty

Hi - provided you have no local notes or unsynced notes on the Mac it sounds like a 'clean' reinstall might help.  The usual steps are:

Backup your data (Enex export and Time Machine) - https://evernote.com/contact/support/kb/#/article/28607737
Download the lastest version (currently 6.0.2) from the Evernote site - https://evernote.com/download/
Secure removal and re-installation - https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/77444-how-to-completely-remove-and-reinstall-en-mac/

- After you remove Evernote though you might like to check your various locations again to make sure that all those files are completely gone...
