How do I copy and paste all notes from one notebook to another?

Recommended Posts

Probably so simple, but all I see is copy link or copy notebook.

Do I have to copy notebook then work with it from there some how?

I have notebook "A" that I want to leave, but copy the note from it and add them to notebook "B".

Which client do you use? In the Windows client, you can select all of the notes in a notebook, right-click on the list and use "Copy Notes" to copy them to another notebook. Alternatively you could export a notebook to Evernote format, and import the resulting .enex file back in to another notebook (source notebook is not saved in .enex format files).

Wow, it was there all the time, lol...

I'm using the Mac client. When I right click there is a option in the list to, Copy to notebook...

So when you copy a note like that does it store a second copy on my hard drive or the EN server or what?

Thanks,

Copied notes are discrete, so yes, a copy will be made in your notes database on your hard drive, and on the Evernote servers (meaning your upload limit will be hit as well).

Different case. I'm not sure about that, but my guess is that would not hit your upload cap in any meaningful way, if at all. Obviously the notebook change would need to be synced up.

Thanks,

It sounds like you already have the answer you needed. However, for future reference, here is a screencast of how to copy everything over from a joined notebook. This is one case in which it may be necessary (if you have no permission to modify notes) to move everything first.

Can you hold down CTRL if on pc, select all the notes you want to copy and then use Copy & Paste? I have no experience with IOS at all so it's all I can suggest.

You can multi-select notes in the note list using Ctrl+click to add single notes to your selection; more than one note selected will produce a panel that allows you to change the notebook and other metadata of all of the selected notes.

You can duplicate one note at a time on mobile devices... but for batch copying (or moving) multiple notes, you're confined to the desktop client. That rules out the Web client too.

If you click on any Note in any of the Note lists (Snippet, Top List, Side List), you should be able to select all Notes using the std CMD-A.
