(Archived) Chrome Web Clipper Won't Finish Clipping

I actually like the new clipper, but it has some kinks that need to be worked out.  I'm getting a lot of pages that won't finish clipping or syncing, indicated by a yellow number on the clipper icon that won't got away.  I found the logs, and the pages that won't clip seem to have the same message in the logs.  I'll make another post with sites that seem to have this problem, so you can try to reproduce it.

This site showed the error, but after refreshing, I was able to clip successfully:

http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/27-epaper-panel-p-1596.html

This site showed the error, and it was reproducable, even after refreshing.  It had an additional error message, see below.

I'm seeing the same problem clipping from Gmail . . . but only on my work gmail account (using google apps).  If I use my personal gmail account, even from the same Chrome, then it works fine.  Both are using https.

Same line in loadSameSiteImages ().

I really miss being able to clip gmails directly  :(

Using chrome Version 29.0.1547.66 m.  Restarts don't seem to make a difference.

I've been running across quite a few pages that won't clip since the new version of Web Clipper came out for Chrome.  Not sure what's up - but I figured others might be running into the same problem, so I thought I'd report that I'm one!  Example  - not from gmail - I opened this in a few browser window http://opencontent.org/blog/archives/2922  I've clipped from Wiley's blog in the past.

Interesting . . . if I go to Ilene's link above, and click on the clipper, I get a "Cannot save clip" message, and nothing reported in the log.  That's quite different from my gmail experience, where the save seems to want to start (I see a little "1" on the clipper icon) but then cannot complete.

All of which tells me this is not a simple problem.  But I don't have to tell you that :)

Web Clipper now again clips Gmail emails (which it stopped doing earlier today).

Unfortunately, it still only includes a link to https://mail.google.com/mail/

When you highlight the email text and clip to the desktop version instead, you get a better URL, e.g. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?shva=1&zx=xp9sqym8bvuv#inbox/1412959f6a716082

Clicking that longer URL opens up a new instance of Gmail -- at the exact message the text was clipped from.  The old web clipper used to do that as well, and I really miss that functionality.

(Also... after clipping a note my web clipper only gives the option to "Open in Evernote" -- even though I have selected to open notes in the web client as my preference.) Works now.

Hi all,

We just pushed version 6.0.1 that aims to reduce the number of sites that triggers the 'Cannot clip error'. Please try updating to this version and if you got a few minutes to report back if your favorite site to clip from is still broken do post back here.
