I honestly find it quite annoying when - after performing a search, then doing whatever in the results - I click the 'x' to remove the search field, and evernote then pops down the 'Recent Searches' box with all the options for saving searches, etc.
If I click the 'x', I want the search field cleared. That's all. If I wanted to look at recent searches, well then I'd start typing in another search query, upon which the 'Recent Searches' box would pop down.
The current behavior is counter-intuitive. An 'x' icon next to a search field should clear the search field. Period.
