Evernote Drive Cookbook and Meal Planner

Recommended Posts

I'm waiting on voting because I want to see what else is out there. I like this idea, but I've seen some other ideas I like.

AND, I have off and on fits with Say mmmm. Sometimes it doesn't want to pull out ingredients or does weird stuff with them. Sometimes I can't see my Evernote integration on their website. So I'm waiting.

Oddly, one thing I do like is how they present the notes visually, they even do it with nonrecipe files.

As far as the voting goes, the deadline has passed and the voting period has begun already, so you might want to think about voting if you like something. You can vote once a day, and you can vote for multiple entries each day.

I didn't know the details of the voting period. I thought maybe I could just vote once.

These are the aps I like:

Some are better than others, I really like kustomnote, but if evershelf really can take the spines off my books shelves and flesh them out that would be amazing!

Kustom Note and Say Mmmm probably have the best fleshed out and presented aps on my list.

However as I have more time, I want to take a look and see which seem to be aiming at multi platform like Evernote. As a Windows/Android user I want to see expansion from knee jerk iphone apps.

LOL. I don't know about knee jerk iphone apps. We iPhone users like to have apps too, and we are a juicy market :)

But, I have a Droid phone too, and the Nexus 7 is on its way, so I have one foot in the Android world as well. Ideally, developers would work on several platforms, but I think that is a lot to ask of a brand-new app. I prefer to see them get one platform right, and whenever possible, I hope to see them all expand onto one or more other platforms. Evernote, in my experience, is a real rarity in tackling so many platforms. It also took a while to get there :)

I don't know much about software development so I come at this from a marketing point of view. It's a pain having a segmented market, but if your "thing" needs to be for several different platforms then you really should in my opinion try to do as many together at once so you don't alienate the rest of the market.

What I think is smart are those who have developed web only versions of items so they aren't so constricted, but if your thing needs to be on a smart phone then you need to cover the market as best you can and don't add on tablets and computers until you've hit all the phone platforms.

But hey I admit, I've been modestly spoiled by Evernote.

Evernote has spoiled me too! It is really cumbersome to develop an app (I am working on one now), because while it is nice to have on the web, you also want it available offline, and users (not surprisingly) are concerned about silly little things like data charges.

I agree with you about having the app available on multiple platforms. There are still tens of thousands (?) for one or the other, but over time, I think the good ones work just as hard on both to make sure that users with multiple devices (maybe an Android phone and an Apple tablet) don't suffer from the segmented / fragmented conditions. It's tough work, and Evernote makes it seem far too easy. They really ought to share some of their programmer stories so that people know just how difficult the process of going from concept to reality is across multiple platforms and for millions of users!
