how do you delete tags that have no notes in them. thank you.

I don't see a way to do it in the Android client that I have on my Kindle Fire. I think that you might need to use either a desktop client for that (Mac or Windows), or the Web client.

Tags are shown with the number of notes tagged in brackets next to them (in a similar way to the android clients).

From there you can find them and delete them

Right click on a tag in the Tags Panel (left side of your Evernote window), select Delete...

You'll get an "Are you sure..." prompt, which you can disable for future deletions, if you want.
