mac creating a text box with filled background?

Idea

I want to annotate screenshots, and need to be able to create a text box that has a filled background for enhanced readability when I place the text box over a screenshot. Is there a way to do that in Skitch?

Sure draw The box using the box tool.

the switch to paint tool and choose color fromPallet

Hover over the box create and click.

Box will be filled in:

What a pain, though. Adds too much friction what needs to be an effortless workflow. I don't always want a bordered box, but I find I want it more often than not and Jing made this so easy. I hate to drop Skitch for such a minor thing, but its killing me.

There really is a need for three separate tools here: Box, Text, and Text Box, kind of like Adobe Illustrator has.

Hi, has this changed since 2012? I just started using Skitch and I don't see the Paint Tool

Also trying to create a filled in box, thanks :)

At this time, there is no way to fill in a shape with Skitch or Evernote Annotate (other than manually "coloring" inside a shape -- which I would not recommend). Although we do have it documented as a feature request.
