web (Archived) Where is "Save image to Evernote" option?

21 posts in this topic

Hi

Just wondering what happened to the "save image to Evernote" option when you right click a picture when browsing the internet? I updated the software and now the option is gone - that was what I used the most!

Anyone know how to get it back?

Thanks

Just guessing, but possibly related to the Evernote options that you see in chrome and Firefox. (with their respective clippers)

In firefox, there is the option to clip image, but it is missing in chrome.

I actually didn't know about these options before now

It is available from Chrome but you have to "Enable contextual menus" in Chrome Evernote Web Clipper Options.

Huh...playing around with it a bit more, it seems that it is there...just that it depends on what/when you click...eg in google when you hover over an image if you left click while that expand animation takes place, the image option is not there. (but is if you wait until the animation is done.)

Essentially...I was wrong, ignore my post. Owyn is right

Hi! I searched here on these forums but I did not find anything for my problem... And I cannot start a new thread.

Here are my problems:

1) I want to download my attachments from Evernote's web profile but I didn't find any way to do that.

I use Firefox 9.0.1 now.

2) I use a netbook with 10" display and 1024x600 pixels resolution. When I want to edit a note, I can't see all the options on the screen and it doesn't exist a scrollbar too. Can be done something about that?

3) Beside this problems, sound attachments doesn't show up in my browser but I see a message to install a missing plugin for that, but when it search for it, the browser doesn't find any plugin for that. How can I see/listen/download that attatchments?

In rest, this is a very nice and usefull app for Android - in my case.

Hi! I searched here on these forums but I did not find anything for my problem... And I cannot start a new thread.

Click "Start New Topic" at top right of forum topic list.

Here are my problems:

1) I want to download my attachments from Evernote's web profile but I didn't find any way to do that.

I use Firefox 9.0.1 now.

Hover over filename in attachment icon box. The attachment link should now show in browser status.

Right click and select Save As.

2) I use a netbook with 10" display and 1024x600 pixels resolution. When I want to edit a note, I can't see all the options on the screen and it doesn't exist a scrollbar too. Can be done something about that?

Workarounds in this case are:

- Edit notes in List view, or

- Reduce zoom for the tab. Will make it less readable but the full edit toolbar will be visible and usable in Snippet view, or

- Hide left navigation panel. This should (barely) make edit in Snippet view usable in maximized browser window, or

- Pop out note to single note view window and maximize window

3) Beside this problems, sound attachments doesn't show up in my browser but I see a message to install a missing plugin for that, but when it search for it, the browser doesn't find any plugin for that. How can I see/listen/download that attatchments?

Which OS are you using? What is the media type for the sound attachment (AMR, MP3, ...)?

Added Hide left navigation panel.

Thank you for reply!

"Hover over filename in attachment icon box." - I don't see anything like you said... Attachment icon box, where it is? I attached a print screen with a note and I can't find what you said.

OK, I will edit notes in List View or pop out to single note view. It's not as easy as Snippets view but it's ok anyway.

I'm using Windows 7 and the attachment is AMR. All I see in that note is a image like that in this post.

A note with pictures has .jpg files, so it shows up in my notes and I use Right click and Save Image As, but that files, .AMR can't be seen/recognized, I don't know. If I let Firefox search for a plugin it doesn't find anything.

If it was a "Download Attachments" button in every note, like in a email, it was beautiful... In that way you can download any file attached and view it in PC with any software, not being limited by the browser, like in my case.

Please PM me a link to a sample note with an AMR file.

Web Client -> Share -> Link

I don't have a test case that matches your exact problem.

I can replicated this, and I have a solution, sort of...

The addon Adblock Plus, has the function: "Open Blockable Items"

If you have it installed, click the icon for it, and choose "Open Blockable Items"

In the window that appears at the bottom, find the .amr file and right click it. Choose "Open in New Tab"

This will start the download of the .amr file, and you will be prompted to save it.

If you don't have ABP, I would recommend it anyway...to block all of those pesky ads...

(There is a similar solution, using NoScript as well - Right clicking on the box that represensts the blocked item, allows for "Save as")

EDIT: Merging broke this link, see below.

I think the issue is that the way the browser handles the missing plugin means that it blocks the other options...

Scott:

There appears to be a underlying problem with Firefox plugin support for AMR.

I found two potential solutions but details are sketchy without testing:

- Real Player plugin

- VLC plugin with AMR support

Chrome may also be a better option. Don't know yet.

I don't have an Android device to generate an exact test case.

I don't really know, I always have trouble with plugins (I use a portable version of FireFox, which causes it's own problems, and the "Install missing plugins" option always fails to find any for me...)

I was trying to provide at least one way of getting the file in the mean time.

I will add the amr file to the note, so you can test, just a ~30 sec file in which I let it record silence :)

They were good tips.

Variations on this problem have shown up several times. Decided it was worth the time to properly investigate options.

....

Saved the note. Thanks. Off to do some testing.

Another solution that I have noticed, that required no addons.

Right click the grey box -> This frame -> View Frame Source.

The link is contained within the source and can be copied to download.

@spg SCOTT - I have AdBlock Plus but it is deactivated for Evernote site...

I tried that but I don't see any file to download, just that message from Firefox. I think that "under" that message was the file wich you said to download.

I can download with AdBlock Plus like in the link above, but it's really hard and unconfortable to do like that for every audio note.

For administrator, I think that a link to Download all attachements will be perfect in Evernote Web.

Yes, it was a temparary solution, to get the files in the short term.

Long term, an option to download the files via the interface would be nice.

FYI:

The lefthand navigation bar can be hidden by double-clicking on the splitter that appears when hovering the cursor over the left-most portion of the Note list.

Oh, sweet. Notice that the splitter reappears if you hover at the left-most edge of the window after hiding it. Thanks Jason!

Thanks. Evernoted.

Checked and this reduces the minimum pixel size to see full edit tool bar in Web client to 1016px. (Tested in Chrome at 100% Zoom). Makes edit mode in Snippet view barely usable on a netbook (typically 1024px horizontal) when browser window maximized and left panel hidden.

Finally completed tests (I got sidetracked on some other issues).

Conclusions from tests in Windows XP.

  • No perfect solution in Web client in Windows.
  • Evernote Windows client does provide clean solution for play and save as functions for all audio formats tested (AMR, WAV, MP3).
  • VLC Media Player (Window 32 v1.1.11 tested) works for all audio formats and is a better external player (IMO) than the QuickTime Player.
  • VLC Media plugin does not provide embed play control.
  • QuickTime plugin was only plugin which provided embed player for audio in Web client. Needs upgrade to QuickTime Pro (not tested) to enable download function in player. Tested in Chrome 16 and Firefox 9. It does have unfortunate behaviour of auto-play of audio in a note.
  • Firefox DownThemAll add-on detects and supports downloads of audio attachments. Needed to add "amr" to default audio filter to get best results. Cleaner interface than AdBlock hacks. Firefox only solution unfortunately.
