windows "Unable to download the update...

That's all I get when I try to update Evernote.

Installed version: 4.5.0.5229

Update version: 4.5.0 Public (194665)

"Update to pre-release version when available" is enabled.

I've trying for the past ~14 hours to make this upgrade. I've d/l over 100MB so far today with no other problems. This just repeats over and over with instant results of that message box telling me to try it later.

Has anyone here tried to download the update manually from the download page here: http://www.evernote.com/about/download/windows.php?file=Win&btn=grey?

I was able to do the auto-update on a couple of machines, and download the update manually a couple of times also. The manual download seemed a little slower the second time (just now); took a couple of minutes for 60MB.

Same problem with auto-update; offers the update but then says it cannot download it. I'll try the manual download later if I get a chance. Is this an important update?

Auto update failed for me too - I did the manual update, but it said it was version 4.5.1.5432 whereas the autoupdate was about to send me 4.5.0 (194665) telling me I currently had 4.5.0 (167496) so either way, the manual version is a newer update.

Is this a responsible solution?

Can you explain how it is that Evernote can't fix the problem, or otherwise ensure your clients can get a simple, one click upgrade solution?

How has this issue lingered so long?

I just checked (about) and I'm running 4.5.0.5229, and now when I click on check for updates, it says I have the latest, yet I never have done an update/download since the popup told me I should.

Come clean on this issue, please!

Yes, it's temporary, and responsible. If auto-update isn't working, how are they supposed to fix it, via an update that you can't auto-update?
