(Archived) Search by web address?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find all the notes that I've clipped from a given domain (newscientist.com). Putting this in the search string (desktop or web) only seems to find notes with that domain in the text of the note. Is there any way of doing this?

Thanks,

Tony.

Dave,

Thanks. That is a great tip.

I've added several website searches to my growing list of searches (saved in an Evernote note)

Some require the www prefix

  • sourceURL:http://www.drudgereport.com/*
    sourceURL:http://www.nytimes.com/*
    sourceURL:http://www.hughhewitt.com/blog/*

Others do not

  • sourceURL:http://hotair.com/*
    sourceURL:http://dailycaller.com/*
    sourceURL:http://michellemalkin.com/*

This is only available via an advanced search syntax, and only if you include the full prefix of the URL:

sourceURL:http://www.newscientist.com/*

Brilliant! Worked perfectly. About time I RTFM methinks: never knew about the search grammar.

Hi Dave,

It isn't the aelinde account that is the problem - I only created that when I couldn't get my proper one to work. The account that I want to use is that with the tonylinde username.

But when I try to get the forum to reset my password for the tonylinde username, it tells me that the account is not activated.

Then when I try to resend the activation email, I get an email telling me that I need my parents' permission to use the account! I must have clicked the wrong button when setting it up or something screwed up. Can you either reset the tonylinde account so that it isn't for a child or delete it so that I can recreate it. To verify, you can check that both that username and this one are both for the same email address.

Thanks,

Tony.

Thanks Dave. That did allow me to log in but I was unable to see (or post in) any of the forums. Resending the activation email just ended up with the Parent Authorisation form again.

Maybe it'd be easier if you just deleted the tonylinde username and I'll recreate it.

Cheers,

Tony.

I was playing a bit with this today & IME, just like searching within the note body, it depends on the way the URL is composed. IE, the Lifehacker articles I have do not have the www in the url. But, that doesn't mean that someday there won't be some Lifehacker page I save that starts http://www.lifehacker.com/something/something. And, that page will not show up with the others when doing a search on sourceURL:http://lifehacker.com - something to keep in mind when searching for particular URLs, if you're not finding what you think should be there.
