Failed search results...again

I was searching for all notes tagged with Software, specifically notes tagged Software.EN.  I consulted the online tutorial and followed the syntax in that tutorial and I checked, and double checked my spelling, yet I get nothing. 

I have never really grasped EN's search functions, because the results I get are often baffling, even when I follow the rules.  

I'm sure I will be embarrassed for overlooking something that is very obvious but, for the life of me, I can't figure out what that is.

Hi.  So what,  exactly,  was the content of your search string?  Did you use tag:software* ? How many notes do you have with tags starting with "software..." ??
