How can I be shown just what subject I am looking for?

How are you searching for notes?

Evernote has an extensive search feature
We can search for                        tag:AAAAA tag:BBBB
We can also include search text        "DDDD"

using "tag:#a autos", would that be correct?

Tags work well for organizing/searching notes

Deficiencies of the search feature is that special characters are dropped
                                                                         stop words are dropped

""#A autos" would be a problem in a text search.
The text search ends up as    "autos"

So are there any characters that could be used?  Say for example ^ or ~  ?  Or would just plain text be the answer to my issue of seeing other notes besides notes of a particular subject?

For text searches underscore can be used; for example   _A Autos

Are searches case sensitive?

Quoting from the documentation

Upper and lower case are ignored. For example, Brave and brave return the same results.

To be clear, underscore is the only special character that can be searched in the note body.  On the plus side, special characters can be used and searched in tag names.
