sudden complete disappearance of note content

Recommended Posts

Hi, this morning I wanted to add text to my long time note "English 5" and instead of seeing the note as usual, I got a pop-up that there was an error and I had to choose between discarding my latest changes and reset the formatting. I did the latter, but to no avail: the note is completely cleansed of all content.

Can you please retrieve it for me? I've worked on it for months.

I almost exclusively work on Evernote with my android mobile phone (Oneplus 6). What further info do you need from me?

Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forums. We're basically user-to-user here, though occasionally Evernote staff pop in, especially for something like this. @Shane D.? In the meantime, check out the support requests page: https://help.evernote.com/hc/requests/new. Though you're on Basic, there may be provisions for contacting them for lost content issues. There's also an Evernote support Twitter account available for all users.

Revisions of your note have been backed up in Evernote's Note History backup

Access to the backup data is a paid feature, but you can subscribe for a single month

I am baffled by this response. So basically you are saying that I'm screwed as long as I don't pay. I don't have a Visa card, and besides that, for the problem that I'm facing (sudden loss of 11 months worth of data due to a technical error in the app), I believe any user should get help. If not, this shows how little Evernote cares, and how untrustworthy the software really is. If you offer a product to the public,  even if it's for free, then there should be a way for users to get help for a critical situation they're not at fault for, without having to change their subscription.

Note history is a feature that runs in the background on the EN servers, for all accounts.

But access to it is only possible with a paid account. If you need to get access to history, you could sign into Premium for one month.

Another possibility would be to log onto your account on a computer at https://www.evernote.com/client/web and see if the table is still intact there. If not, then yes, unless the information can be retrieved or recreated otherwise, a month of Premium will get you access to the note history (which is only taken at certain intervals, so sometimes even there the material is lacking).
