Dates on TO-DO checkboxes

I Evernote added a feature for enabling one to set a Time / Due date on specific items on a complex TO DO list, I would be able to ditch my Task management software.

They can add the due date, but we also need functions acting on the date.

I use the Reminder feature to store due date.  
It also stores completion date/status.  
Each note has a single Reminder assignment

I use a separate note for each task.  
This allows notes and assignment of tags and reminder (due date)
and generation of task lists using saved searches

My Current Task list (TO DO) is generated by search   reminderOrder:* -reminderTime:day+1 -reminderDoneTime:*  
(all reminders, exclude future dated, exclude completed)
I can also generate other task lists; by project, overdue, completed, by date,  ...

Yes currently you only get one reminder per note.  As long as you have only one task per note you can make it work.  Saved searches are helpful to pull notes that meet certain criteria.  I did this for several years but am back to a dedicated todo app.  I just find it more seamless.

Plus one for the task manager. In my case Things 3, with a link to a EN note if I want the reference.

Using EN as a task manager:

• It is not created for this, so there are several weak points if you do.
• If used, and going for the date, it is either split each project into one task per note, and set reminders for that, or having collect to-do-notes, and set the date for the next action.
• A better way IMHO would be do do it the GTD way, which means working with „settings“ like „at home“, „at work“, „waiting for“, „phone calls“ etc. Reminders here are mostly obsolete, just needed for these tasks which really need a follow up by date. The flow between the settings can be controlled by tagging plus setting up saved searches to find the notes that need attention.
