purgatory folder, and also "external-edits"

Doing some troubleshooting and housekeeping today and found these 2 folders in my ~/Library/Application Support/com.evernote.Evernote/accounts/www.evernote.com/<account-id> folder :

  • external-edits
  • purgatory

I also found a second "external-edits" folder in ~/Documents/.evernote/

They are both filled with hundreds of folders/files, most with old modification dates.

Can these be deleted? (while EN is not running of course)

I don't usually worry about the backend folders, they take care of themselves.

Purgatory has the same connotation as the religious theme.  Deleted notes are stored there for a time before passing on.  It can be used as a Hail Mary in recovering deleteted data.

You could try it and see what happens.  Make sure your data is sync'd to the servers; local notebooks backed up.  The worse that can happen is your database is rebuilt from the servers.
