Not sure I agree with all they say, and I think they're a bit late to the party, unless there's an official date - but I did notice this comment... Quote Even Microsoft seems to have given up trying to bulldoze the green elephant. OneNote dates back 15 years to the TabletPC initiative, and has only really ever been a note taker, not an information manager – as many of us found when contemplating a migration. The OneNote Win32 desktop app is being deprecated for a UWP version with less functionality and it will no longer be part of Office. The comments point out that - as with Evernote - it's possible to run an older version if the most recent one deprecates features you need, but that's not exactly a long-term strategy worth following... Thanks, Gaz! (But what is this Evernote Daily News of which you speak?) The bit that intrigued me most was: Quote Wrobel says it's refocused around what it does uniquely well: information management. The philosophy is to keep things simple, and work with partners.... Wrobel says that feature-creep has consciously been killed off, and it's also part of the same philosophy to expose users gently to new features, rather than shoving them in their faces from the outset. Once you've used the app for a while, it might give you a gentle pop-up based on usage. I like that approach. I'm not so sure that "Business" isn't being shoved into our faces just a bit, though. Level 5* gazumped 11,652 Posted July 13, 2018 Author Level 5* Share Posted July 13, 2018 Seems to me that Mr Wrobel is justifying the time they're spending on bug (and feature) fixing, and not on the extra bells and whistles that everyone keeps asking for. Which I totaly agree with - Evernote at its core is a totally killer application. It doesn't have to be a word-processor and a mind-mapper and a code notepad/ repository - there are others out there who in some cases have been in business longer than Evernote developing their own specialist apps. Evernote has no reason to reinvent those wheels - it just needs to find a common interest and run with it.
