How do I get rid of the big (New Note) button at the side bar?

Hello,

 

I recently updated my evernote on mac and I have this big New Note button, which is very distracting, and redundant.

 

I like and use this button to create new notes. It is simpler, I can toggle notebook and fits in nicer with the rest of the palette.

 

Is there any way to get rid of the button at the side bar?

No, the sidebar new note button is not optional in the current version

The toolbar icon is optional if you're concerned about having redundant buttons.

@K_evernote, on Windows this "feature" has been annoying folks for a little while now (see https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/112626-new-button/). Evidently there's a general effort at unifying the interface across platforms.
