Hide Private Notes from view

Ctm404

Idea

Since Evernote bills itself as a place for your whole life -- work and personal -- it would be great if there was a way to have more privacy features.

Specifically, I often use Evernote in meetings - usually sitting in tight spaces with nosy neighbors, sometimes even projecting my screen for everyone as I present. It's way too hard to hide the titles and contents of my other notes! I mean, do I really want to open up Evernote to show off my "Ideas for new widgets" note and inadvertently share with my colleagues that I have recent notes titled "Co-workers I hate," "Viagra receipts," and "Bankruptcy Resources"??

You'd think a solution would be as simple as an option to collapse the Notes pane or "only display notes tagged 'Work' or....

A saved search "tag:Work" ought to do that trick...

I have a similar request in mind. I use Evernote all-the-time. What I do like to see is that when I assign/create a note in my notebook Private, these notes do not show in the "All Notes" view. Yes, you might argue that the all notes view is created to show every note from all of your notebooks. Maybe it can be a configurable option to include it or not.

My request comes from the perspective to have it as simple as possible.

Workaround in the meantime,

  1. Create a stack with all your notebooks other than Private.
  2. Select that stack and File - Exit EN.  This will set that stack as your default view when you open EN.
  3. Add the stack to your shortcuts bar.
  4. Click on this icon and "all notes" becomes your stack.
  5. Side benefit click on the down arrow and you can select a notebook.

FWIW.
