New user help- adding categories and tasks

I read the below tagged article and https://www.evernote.com/shard/s736/sh/8174d3e8-6d66-4015-ab11-833a2d684614/e2002423ec1ada4115b60f01d5379877 Thats why i signed up. I liked the idea of all notes in 1 page and being able to categorize then create tasks but I can’t seem to figure out how to do what the article shows. Please help! Thank you!

Categorize referred to separate notes and applying tags, for example Home, Work, Family, Hobby

Create Tasks referred to a single note, with a list of tasks.  The example added checkboxes to each item

To get a one page view, I use the Copy Note Links feature to get the note titles into a list into a note
I add checkboxes to this list
