Reusing a previously deleted/deactivated email

In 2013 I signed up using Evernote using an Yahoo email 

Last week I wanted to stop using the original email address and not understanding how to do it in Evernote I signed up using a different email address. What I really wanted to do was change my email address. I deactivate the new account so I could use that email address on the old/original account, but it's not letting me.

1.  How can I go about keeping the original Evernote account, but attaching it to the new email address that I want to use?
2.  Aside from manually transferring my content over to the new email address Evernote account, how important is it to maintain an original account?  i.e., any benefits to being or having an older account sign up date?

You need a third email address.  Its only temporary, you can create it on gmail

On your deactivated account, switch to the temporary email.
The old email address is now available for you to use

To clarify:
I have an original Evernote account with an email address I don't want to use.
I have a second Evernote account I created using an email that I want to use on the original Evernote account.
I have reactivated the original Evernote account.

In my original Evernote account I switch to the temp email address.
How is this going to allow me to use the email address being used by the second Evernote account?

You want to free up an email from account A so you can use it in a different account B

Go to that account A and change it to the temporary email.

Can you look at the problem in terms of Account-A, Account-B, Email-1, Email-2, Email-3

Try working the solution in these terms

I have Account B with Email 2.

I want to remove Email 2 in Account B and use Email 2 in Account A.

I want to continue to use Account A but with Email 2.

2. Change Account B to Email 3; Email 2 is now free to be used
3. Change Account A to Email 2

it's what DTLow has been saying all along:

You have two accounts, Account A (the original account) and Account B. You have three emails, Email 1, Email 2, and Email 3 (the temporary email). Account A uses Email 1, and Account B uses Email 2.

1. Switch Account A to use Email 3
2. Switch Account B to use Email 1
3. Switch Account A to use Email 2

Now Account A uses Email 2, and Account B uses Email 1

 

@DTLow : Oh, ha-ha, beat me to it, not quite the same answer, but the requirements weren't specific about what Email Account B was to end up with.

I guess putting it into simple terms is the best way to go.  I'll remember that.

NOW... I'd like to get the 3 notes I made in Account B over to Account A... is that pretty simple too?

I'm reading the Evernote files on how to export... using the Mac version.  
I'll post how it goes.

Good to hear the email switch worked

Platform?

On Win/Mac, you can select the three notes, export to enex format in Account B; import to Account A

More complicated is to share a notebook with both accounts.  You then have access to the notes in Account A and can simply move to an Account A notebook

I went the export/import route with the individual notes... this was very easy... sorta like how easy it was to change email addresses... hahaha.

I haven't got too deep into yet, but it seems like this (exporting the .enex file) would be the way or a good way to back up my notes from time to time.
