Opening Note Stuck Loading

Recommended Posts

When trying to open any of my notes on mobile, even a note I just created and closed on the phone, the app gets stuck on "Opening note, please wait".  It syncs the note with the server, as it is accessible from my computer, but doesn't open it.  The widget that shows the last few notes used shows the notes fine, with the content there but won't open up to the view/editable full app.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7

Hi.  Standard teching for a mobile app is to uninstall / restart / reinstall - have you tried that yet?

Yeah, I reinstalled it and it worked for the first note but every note after that still had the forever loading problem.

Hmmn.  Sorry that's about the only step that's possible with a mobile device - and I wasn't aware of any special issues with the S7;  but we're a -mainly- user-supported forum,  not an official support option.  I'd suggest you contact Support direct if you're a paying customer or tweet them if not..  https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action or https://twitter.com/evernotehelps

I'm having the same trouble, and I think it might have started with Android 7.0. (I have an S7 Edge.)

The problem seems to be a conflict between an already-resident instance of Evernote and a new one, but it's evidently not that simple. Even reactivating the resident instance can cause this sometimes. My suspicion is that the "closed" but resident instance still has the database locked. It doesn't matter which note you try to open. It can be one you just edited, or one you haven't read in ages.

The workaround is simple but annoying: go to the display of resident applications and clear Evernote. That will let you back in.

One of the "notes" you can't open is the activity log; so there's no good way to capture information about the problem.
